{"id":513598,"date":"2026-06-23T02:30:17","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T02:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/513598\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T02:30:17","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T02:30:17","slug":"midlands-pubs-raise-a-glass-to-irelands-peatland-heritage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/513598\/","title":{"rendered":"Midlands Pubs Raise A Glass To Ireland\u2019s Peatland Heritage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/6a39545470aa53172e1.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            Six midlands pubs will be taking part.\n        <\/p>\n<p>Ireland&#8217;s bogs and peatlands are being celebrated through a series of specially commission beer mats.<\/p>\n<p>Pubs across the Midlands will receive the mats focusing on Ireland\u2019s peatlands over the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>The project is highlighting a range of ancient artefacts, including the Brockagh Bronze Age axe and the Ralaghan figurine, alongside remarkable ecological specimens such as the carnivorous sundew and the Devil\u2019s Matchstick lichen.<\/p>\n<p>The mats feature a QR code that directs users to more in-depth stories, images, and information about the country\u2019s peatlands.<\/p>\n<p>The beer mats will be distributed across six midlands pubs, with three pubs part of the initiative in Offaly and three in Laois.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pubs listed for distribution:<\/p>\n<p>The Trap, Clara, Co.
