Battling fierce winds and driving rain in Salthill, she warned viewers not to \u201cmake unnecessary journeys,\u201d and her message was shared around the world, quickly becoming one of Irish broadcasting\u2019s most memorable moments.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about her retirement, Mannion reflected on her long association with <a href=\"https:\/\/extra.ie\/2026\/06\/21\/news\/rte-staff-incidents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">RT\u00c9<\/a>, noting that she has spent almost her entire working life with the broadcaster.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a career filled with major news assignments and countless memorable stories, she admits the famous weather report remains the moment most people remember her for.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Teresa-Mannion.jpg\" alt=\"Pic: RT\u00c9\" class=\"wp-image-177450\"  \/>Pic: RT\u00c9<\/p>\n<p>More than a decade later, strangers still regularly stop her to repeat the now-iconic phrase, which has become part of Irish popular culture.<\/p>\n<p>While retirement will mark the end of her RT\u00c9 career, Mannion says she has no shortage of plans for the future.
