Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> has announced a new music festival, Daisy Chain Fields, featuring an all-woman line-up of “heroes and friends” including Stevie Nicks<\/a>, Chappell Roan<\/a>, and Doechii<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Proceeds from the event will be donated to charities advancing and advocating for women and girls.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old singer, known for hits such as \u201cDriver\u2019s Licence\u201d, \u201cGood 4 U\u201d and \u201cVampire\u201d, unveiled the star-studded roster on Monday. Set for 29 August in Irvine, California, the festival will also host K-Pop group Katseye<\/a>, Rachel Chinouriri <\/a>and Sarah McLachlan.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo shared the news on Instagram, posting promotional artwork which notably features a flower of pins, one emblazoned with “Bans off our bodies” \u2013 a clear reference to the US abortion rights campaign.<\/p>\n

Expressing her long-held ambition, Rodrigo wrote: “Truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all. I\u2019ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and I am so ecstatic its finally coming true!!” <\/p>\n

She added: “Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 per cent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls.”<\/p>\n

The Grammy-winner further stated that the line-up is “truly insane and full of my heroes and friends,” and expressed her belief “that joy, community, and music can be the drivers of meaningful change and I\u2019m hopeful this festival will be just that. I absolutely cannot wait to scream and dance and sing with you guys August 29th!!!!”<\/p>\n

In an interview with Pitchfork<\/a> magazine, Rodrigo confirmed that she had been directly inspired by Lilith Fair, the festival co-founded by musician Sarah McLachlan in response to sexist industry claims that female artists didn\u2019t sell as many tickets, and that music by women couldn\u2019t be played back-to-back on the radio. <\/p>\n

McLachlan, who is a special guest at Rodrigo\u2019s festival, noted years later that she realised there was \u201cstrength in numbers\u201d, in spite of the industry\u2019s attempts to pit women against one another.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo named the festival \u201cDaisy Chain Fields\u201d because she wanted something that reflected its lineup \u201cbeing strong and beautiful together\u201d, and said she hoped the atmosphere would be a \u201chippie girl, riot grrrl punk type of thing, like flower child meets riot grrrl\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cAll of the artists who are doing it are making no profit,\u201d she said. \u201cI just feel like we need something really positive to do and see, and young girls need awesome role models who are supporting other women and who are engaging in something that\u2019s really joyful and musical and community-oriented.\u201d<\/p>\n

This announcement follows a period of significant success for Rodrigo. Weeks ago, her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love<\/a>, topped the UK album chart, marking her biggest opening week.<\/p>\n

It also comes almost a year after she headlined Glastonbury Festival. Her debut album, Sour (2021), and second chart-topper, Guts, also achieved critical acclaim and commercial success, including Grammy wins.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo has already proven how she is capable of bringing people from different generations together. You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love features a collaboration with The Cure\u2019s Robert Smith, whom she also brought out for her Glastonbury headline set last year.<\/p>\n
