The space, based at the Zaha Hadid Foundation in Clerkenwell, is hosting more than 30 events programmed<\/a>\u00a0by emerging practices appearing in the newly published New Architects 5<\/a>, the latest edition of the AF\u2019s guide to the UK\u2019s key emerging architecture practices.<\/p>\n

\"\"The events will take the form of talks, discussions, performances, workshops and informal gatherings and range in focus across football, conservation, club culture and clay<\/p>\n

Based at the Zaha Hadid Foundation<\/a>\u2019s home at 10 Bowling Green Lane, the project comes ahead of the Foundation\u2019s relaunch in October. Established by Dame Zaha Hadid, it is currently developing a new visual identity, website and refurbishment of its premises, alongside a future programme of exhibitions, archive presentations, contemporary commissions, emerging talent residencies and public events.<\/p>\n

POST PRESS acts not only as an event venue but also as a reading room, which is free to access on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. During the day, visitors are invited to browse New Architects 5 alongside a selection of books chosen by featured practices.<\/p>\n

The spatial design of POST PRESS was led by RAFT \u2014 Jos Myles Geczy and Rosa Nussbaum \u2014 who have designed and fabricated the interior using more than 200 aluminium offset press plates used in the printing of the 576-page book. These plates form two principal elements, one horizontal and one vertical, articulating spaces for display and conversation and the design extends the practice\u2019s interest in the material language of production, Naturally lit during the day as a reading space, after dark it transitions into an event venue, lit by coloured lights.<\/p>\n

Nussbaum\u2019s graphic design practice Studio Christopher Victor also designed the New Architects 5 book, which was printed by &Printed.<\/p>\n

Architecture Foundation director Ellis Woodman commented: \u2018POST PRESS has been conceived as an extension of New Architects 5. RAFT has succeeded in making a room that has a great sense of intimacy and the programme builds on its possibilities by convening a series of conversations, where everyone present can be a contributor.\u2019<\/p>\n

Further contributions to POST PRESS by other emerging practices featured in New Architects 5 include a drystone bench for the space by Studio Armitage, led by Freddie Armitage, in collaboration with Cuthbert Noble of Noble Stonework, using stone loaned by The Stonemasonry Company. Meanwhile, THING Studio \u2013 Lucas Facer, Patrick Fryer and Thomas Randall-Page \u2013 has contributed a tandoor oven fabricated with assistance from Alexis McAtte and Jahvannah Reid.<\/p>\n

The project was also made possible with additional support from Panoramah!<\/p>\n
