Jerry O\u2019Connell<\/a> is sharing new details about the much-buzzed-about selfie<\/a> he snapped with fellow actor John Stamos last year. <\/p>\n

The photo, which O\u2019Connell shared to Instagram<\/a> in November, shows him posing alongside his wife Rebecca Romijn\u2019s ex-husband at comedian Howie Mandel\u2019s 70th birthday celebration in Van Nuys, California. Appearing between the two men in the photo was Stamos\u2019 current wife, Caitlin McHugh<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Appearing on SiriusXM\u2019s \u201cAndy Cohen Live<\/a>\u201d this week, O\u2019Connell seemed to acknowledge there was a bit of uncomfortable tension between the two men at first, given their history. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018I got to make a beeline for him. I got to go extend my hand.\u2019 So I went, I saw him,\u201d he recalled. \u201cI said, \u2018Hey man, how are you? It\u2019s so good to see you.\u2019 I just gave him, went in for a hug and I\u2019m trying to figure out what I can say without upsetting John and starting a beef here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, O\u2019Connell said he was able to lighten the mood a bit by cracking \u201csome self-deprecating jokes,\u201d and that the pair spoke for about 20 minutes before snapping the photo<\/a>, which he captioned with a winking reference to President Donald Trump<\/a> and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. <\/p>\n

\u201cI made sure his new wife was there. You want everyone to feel included,\u201d he explained, before offering some presumably tongue-in-cheek examples of his comedic flair: \u201cI whispered to him when I hugged him, \u2018She says you\u2019re bigger than me. Do you want her back?\u2019 I whispered, \u2018She says Greeks are better lovers.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

Romijn married<\/a> O\u2019Connell in 2007, about two years after her split from Stamos. Stamos and McHugh have been married<\/a> since 2018.<\/p>\n

The frosty relationship between O\u2019Connell and Stamos appears to stem from comments Stamos made about Romijn in his 2023 memoir, \u201cIf You Would Have Told Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing his seven-year marriage to Romijn as \u201cshattering,\u201d he told People at the time<\/a>, \u201cIn my mind back then, she was the Devil, and I just hated her. I couldn\u2019t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not long afterward, Stamos appeared on \u201cThe Howard Stern Show<\/a>,\u201d where he acknowledged feeling \u201cemasculated\u201d by his ex. <\/p>\n

Later that same year, O\u2019Connell responded to the chatter around Stamos\u2019 book while appearing on \u201cThe Talk,\u201d<\/a> saying he\u2019d made a conscious decision to avoid addressing the \u201cFull House\u201d actor\u2019s remarks because \u201cit will be bringing attention to a situation that I don\u2019t want to feed into.\u201d <\/p>\n

Stamos\u2019 stance on his past marriage seems to have softened with time. Appearing on the \u201cReally Good Podcast<\/a>\u201d earlier this month, the actor admitted his split from Romijn \u201cbroke my heart,\u201d and added: \u201cI didn\u2019t want to get divorced. She wanted to. It took me a long time to get over it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in his \u201cAndy Cohen Live\u201d chat, O\u2019Connell said he has \u201cmy finger on the pulse\u201d whenever Romijn\u2019s name is in the news, even though his wife tends to be less tuned in. <\/p>\n

\u201cI usually come home and go, \u2018Honey, John Stamos, who you loved for many years. He was on a podcast and said some stuff. Would you like to listen to it?\u2019\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd my wife usually says, \u2018Yeah, let\u2019s listen. Is it anything bad?\u2019 And I go, \u2018I don\u2019t think so.\u2019 And we sit down and listen to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
