After having a spell cast over him by Alan Carr<\/a> in The Celebrity Traitors, Nick Mohammed is returning to his first love \u2014 magic. The actor is teaming with Blink Industries and BBC Studios Kids & Family to turn his The Young Magicians books into an animated series.<\/p>\n

Mohammed, who is also known for his roles in Taskmaster and Ted Lasso, has written two books in The Young Magicians series, 2017’s The Thieves Almanac and 2020’s The 24-Hour Telepathy Plot.<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/a>, the series will follow the lives of four talented young magicians \u2013 Zack, Sophie, Jonny and Alex \u2013 “as they uncover secret conspiracies and hidden dangers within London\u2019s most exclusive club: The Magic Circle”.

In the synopsis for the book series, Alex is described as being “amazing with a deck of cards,” though he doesn’t say much. Jonny, meanwhile, is “quite possibly the tallest boy in the universe and mixes science and magic with spectacular consequences”. <\/p>\n

Zack is said to be “one of the best pickpockets in the country”, while Sophie’s notable trait is that she “once convinced her Brown Owl that all the other Brownies were jellyfish thanks to her nifty hypnosis skills”.<\/p>\n

Mohammed<\/a>, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, described magic as his “first true love”, and even worked as a closeup magician before finding fame. This passion also inspired Mr Swallow<\/a>, a comedy character who he played on tour in 2023.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his latest project, the actor said: “It\u2019s been an absolute dream come true getting to dive back into the world of The Young Magicians, even more so to develop this as an animated series with Blink Industries and BBC Studios.<\/p>\n

“Magic was, and kind of still is, my first true love, and so to share that passion with a wider audience, given magic’s rich and bountiful history, its oddness and curiosities, has always been a hope of mine.”<\/p>\n

Blink CEO James Stevenson Bretton added that he “fell in love with the charming and exciting world” from the novels, and said it was “no surprise that Nick has been able to translate that magic into such an exciting show”.<\/p>\n
