{"id":515923,"date":"2026-06-24T10:36:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T10:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/515923\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T10:36:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T10:36:13","slug":"zara-billionaire-ortegas-irish-property-assets-hit-e324m-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/515923\/","title":{"rendered":"Zara billionaire Ortega\u2019s Irish property assets hit \u20ac324m \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Billionaire fashion mogul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/amancio-ortega\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/amancio-ortega\">Amancio Ortega\u2019s<\/a> Irish real estate portfolio is valued at \u20ac324 million, new financial filings have shown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The owner of the clothing firm Inditex, which controls <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/zara\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/zara\">Zara<\/a>, Bershka and Pull &amp; Bear, has built up a large global property empire valued at close to \u20ac20 billion, including New York and London office blocks. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In the past three years Ortega\u2019s family office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/pontegadea\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/pontegadea\/\">Pontegadea<\/a> has spent hundreds of millions of euro on Irish real estate to add to its worldwide collection. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">New financial filings for his Irish holding companies show they control a combined \u20ac324.5 million of property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Last year these properties earned Pontegadea a combined \u20ac19.5 million in revenue and after-tax profits of \u20ac5.8 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ortega\u2019s Pontegadea made its first move into the Irish real estate market in 2023 when it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2023\/03\/31\/zara-founder-in-100m-deal-for-dublin-docklands-apartment-block\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2023\/03\/31\/zara-founder-in-100m-deal-for-dublin-docklands-apartment-block\/\">acquired the Opus 6 apartment block<\/a> on Hanover Quay for \u20ac104 million from Angelo Gordon, a New York-based investment manager, and Carysfort Capital, the Dublin investment firm led by Michael Looney.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In late 2023 his family office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2023\/11\/30\/zara-founder-in-225m-deal-for-dublin-logistics-scheme\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2023\/11\/30\/zara-founder-in-225m-deal-for-dublin-logistics-scheme\/\">paid close to \u20ac225 million for 1.2 million sq ft<\/a> of logistics space at Dublin\u2019s Baldonnell Business Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ortega\u2019s latest Irish property deal came in June 2025 when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2025\/06\/04\/zara-founder-snaps-up-last-dublin-docklands-project-linked-to-nama\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2025\/06\/04\/zara-founder-snaps-up-last-dublin-docklands-project-linked-to-nama\/\">he bought Ten Hanover Quay<\/a>, a 68,286 sq ft Dublin docklands office block, from Kennedy Wilson and the National Asset Management Agency (Nama) for close to \u20ac70 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Pontegadea Ireland Limited, which controls the Opus 6 apartment block, recorded a 5 per cent increase in revenue to \u20ac5.6 million in 2025 and after-tax profits of \u20ac3.7 million compared with a loss of \u20ac8.1 million the previous year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The firm\u2019s accounts also show the value of the apartment block rose from \u20ac92.3 million to \u20ac94 million in the year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Baldonnell Business Park logistic space, held in the firm FIF Property Ireland 1 Limited by Ortega, fell in value from \u20ac164.1 million to \u20ac159 million in the year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The units, some of which are used by Amazon for its Dublin fulfilment centre, booked an increase in revenue from \u20ac6.9 million to \u20ac11.5 million in 2025. During the year it also record an after-tax profit of \u20ac1.1 million compared with a loss of \u20ac986,000 in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The first set of financials filings for Pontegadea Re Ireland Limited, which was used by Ortega to buy the Ten Hanover Quay office block, show it made \u20ac2.4 million in revenue  between May and December. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The firm, which also recorded an after-tax profit of \u20ac988,000, has valued the office block at \u20ac71.2 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The 90-year-old Spanish businessman Ortega has established himself as one of the richest people globally, valued at close to \u20ac110 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">His moves in the property market have been funded largely by billions of euros of dividends he has earned from his majority stake in Inditex, a company valued at close to \u20ac170 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In March it was reported Ortega was in line to earn a company record \u20ac3.23 billion in dividends this year from Inditex, slightly more than the \u20ac3.1 billion dividend handed to him last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Billionaire fashion mogul Amancio Ortega\u2019s Irish real estate portfolio is valued at \u20ac324 million, new financial filings have&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":515924,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[220210,3468,72,61,60,4310,144459],"class_list":["post-515923","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-business","tag-amancio-ortega","tag-amazon","tag-business","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-property","tag-zara"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/515923","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=515923"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/515923\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/515924"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=515923"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=515923"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=515923"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
