Ridley\u2019s next-generation gravel racer is inching closer to a full release. We hit the Eurobike floor to see what\u2019s changed since it was first leaked, uncovering a shift in geometry and a sharp focus on aero integration. \n<\/p>\n

For the second time, we are seeing an unreleased Ridley aero gravel race bike, but this time it has a name: the Ridley Kanzo Fast 2.0. There\u2019s still very little info available, but this time I was able to examine it up close and get a few more details.<\/p>\n

The last time we spotted this bike was at the Traka<\/a>, where it was being raced by product manager Burt Kenens. At the event, his build sported the RSS (Ridley Speed Shop) logo and was running SRAM XPLR Force with Zipp XPLR SW wheels and a Ridley top tube bag.<\/p>\n

The bike being shown at Eurobike this year is looking closer to production-ready. Gone is the RSS logo, and the Zipp wheels are nowhere to be found. Instead, there\u2019s a set of wheels from brand-mate Forza labeled Forza Skiron RS. The wheels themselves are also unreleased; however, they are sporting carbon spokes and appear quite wide. No details on the exact width were given, but it\u2019s clearly enough to keep even the 55mm Schwalbe tires fitted at the show from excessive lightbulbing.<\/p>\n

What was shared about the new bike started with the tire clearance. Although the tires on display were 55mm, the brand stated that the max official clearance is 58mm. What was implied, as with other recent gravel bikes, is that the rest of the bike appears to focus on bolstering the aero performance of those massive tires.<\/p>\n

Ridley is, after all, an aero-focused company, and you can clearly see that\u2019s the core of this second-generation Ridley Kanzo Fast. The head tube is much deeper than the last bike, but it\u2019s also quite short. That naturally exposes more of the down tube to the wind, and like the 3T aero gravel racer, there\u2019s extensive shaping in the down tube to optimize airflow up top, then protect the bottles as the tubing dives toward the bottom bracket. The rear wheel is equally protected from the wind by a seat tube that hugs the curve of the wheel.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s completely new for this bike vs. the old one is down tube storage. Look below the bottle mount\u2014positioned to keep the weight and movement of bottles off the door\u2014and you\u2019ll find a fairly small opening that exposes an in-frame bag when opened. The only other nod to storage comes with a set of protected mounts on the top tube.<\/p>\n

As before, the groupset fitted at the show was SRAM Force XPLR. There is a mount that appears able to manage a front derailleur; however, it\u2019s unlikely to be used in any stock configuration. Instead, Ridley has fitted a Wolf Tooth chain guide that the company tells me was co-developed specifically with this bike in mind. Details were slim, but you can see that the design prioritizes smooth airflow to best take advantage of 1x aero. There also appears to be plenty of room for the kind of bigger chainrings pro gravel racers would be likely to run on the bike.<\/p>\n

Arguably the real news with this bike, though, is the geometry. Ridley did not share a specific geometry chart, but I\u2019m told the bike uses a modern progressive geometry. That means a steeper seat tube angle paired with a longer top tube and a shorter stem. The big advantage here is opening the hip angle for better power when a rider is holding an aggressive aero position. That also means it\u2019s easier to hold an aero position, which in turn helps the overall aero profile of the bike plus rider.<\/p>\n

Although the bike, likely called the Ridley Kanzo Fast 2.0, appears finished, I\u2019m told it will be late summer or early fall before there will be more information available.<\/p>\n
