A Dublin community has rallied support behind a \u2018young hero\u2019 who stepped in to help a woman during an assault at a train station.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed were called to the scene after 11am on Tuesday morning at Clongriffin station in north Dublin after reports of a public order incident.<\/p>\n
Shaun Crowe writes on a GoFundMe<\/a> page that the young man came to the aid of a woman at the station, putting himself in harm’s way to help a stranger, and that he set up the appeal so the community could recognise his bravery.<\/p>\n Writing on Facebook, Shaun names the young man as Cameron McCabe and the woman he helped as Denise O’Neill, saying Cameron “stepped in without hesitation” and that Denise “will never forget what he did for her.”<\/p>\n Shaun says the money will go to Cameron as a thank-you and to cover any costs he incurred, describing him as an example at a time when so many would walk past.<\/p>\n A post on GoFundMe read: \u201c(Tuesday) in Clongriffin, a young Irish lad showed incredible courage when he stepped in to protect my mam’s friend from being attacked at the train station. Without thinking of his own safety, he put himself in harm’s way to help someone in need.<\/p>\n \u201cActs of bravery like this deserve to be recognised. We’re setting up this fundraiser to show our appreciation and to help cover any costs he may have incurred as a result of his selfless actions, while also letting him know that his courage has not gone unnoticed.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you can spare even a few euro, it would mean a lot.
