{"id":518323,"date":"2026-06-25T20:41:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T20:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/518323\/"},"modified":"2026-06-25T20:41:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T20:41:10","slug":"cork-man-appointed-to-top-role-at-european-energy-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/518323\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork man appointed to top role at European energy association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Cork man James Burchill has been appointed vice-president of the European energy association Marcogaz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The appointment was announced at the Marcogaz general assembly in Warsaw, Poland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Originally from\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.echolive.ie\/corknews\/arid-41855694.html\">Carrigtwohill<\/a> Mr Burchill is a graduate of what is now Munster Technological University (MTU), where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, in 1991.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He has since built an extensive career in the energy utility sector, and is currently chief engineer at Gas Networks Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">He will work alongside industry leaders from across Europe to support Marcogaz\u2019s objectives and contribute to discussions on the future of energy networks, gas safety, innovation, and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr Burchill said he is excited to take up the role, and to have the opportunity to contribute to the important work being undertaken across the European gas infrastructure sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cThe energy landscape across Europe is evolving rapidly and organisations such as Marcogaz play a vital role in fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and supporting innovation across the industry.\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThis appointment is not only a personal honour, but also an important recognition of the expertise and growing contribution of Gas Networks Ireland to the European energy landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Cork man James Burchill has been appointed vice-president of the European energy association Marcogaz.
