Noah Kahan <\/a>has issued a public plea to fans to stop stealing the street sign immortalized in his 2022 song \u201cThe View Between Villages.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old folk-pop artist shot to fame singing about his New England upbringing<\/a> on his third studio album, Stick Season. On the record\u2019s final track, Kahan sings about the nostalgic and complex feelings of returning home as an adult. \u201cPassed Alger Brook Road, I\u2019m over the bridge,\u201d he delivers in the chorus. \u201cA minute from home, but I feel so far from it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The reference to Alger Brook Road in his hometown of Stratford, Vermont, has apparently prompted some fans to repeatedly remove the street sign, disrupting locals.<\/p>\n

Addressing the illegal behavior Friday in an Instagram Story, Kahan wrote: \u201cTo fans traveling to the upper valley, I\u2019ve been informed that the Alger Brook Road sign in Strafford has been repeatedly stolen. It is a total disrespect to the folks who live on that road and a headache for the town to deal with.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to live on Alger Brook. I hate that because I put the road name in a song that some people have taken that as an invitation to disrupt the lives of the hardworking and kind folks who frequent it,\u201d The \u201cNorthern Attitude\u201d singer<\/a> continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo Strafford folks or select board members, please get in touch with me or my amazing mom,\u201d he said, promising he would \u201cpay for any replacements\u201d and is open to hearing \u201cany potential solutions you can think of.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really sorry you\u2019re dealing with this,\u201d Kahan added. \u201cAgain, to my fans: This community has grown much larger and for that reason I feel l should again remind you all about how deeply protective l am over my family\u2019s privacy, and of the sanctuary of where I am from. Please don\u2019t disturb these places or people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stealing street signs is considered a criminal act and is often classified as misdemeanor theft or the destruction of public property.<\/p>\n

The two-time Grammy-nominated<\/a> artist recently dropped his fourth studio album, The Great Divide, in April. The 17-track record was released alongside the Netflix documentary Out of Body, which documents his creative process for writing and recording the album.<\/p>\n

The album has been well-received by critics and listeners alike, with Pitchfork\u2019s<\/a> Hannah Jocelyn hailing it as \u201cwell-crafted.\u201d Singling out the title track, Jocelyn declared that it is \u201ctoo well-written to dismiss as another [Sam] Fender knockoff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Four of the album\u2019s songs \u2014 \u201cOrbiter,\u201d \u201cDoors,\u201d \u201cThe Great Divide\u201d and \u201cWilling and Able\u201d \u2014 are currently among Kahan\u2019s most popular songs on Spotify.
