Garda\u00ed were called to Rearden\u2019s on Washington St when a drunken man smashed a front window at the premises.<\/p>\n
Sergeant John Dineen said the incident occurred at around 5.30pm on February 4.<\/p>\n
Garda Adrian Murphy was on duty on Washington St when he received a call that a man had broken the front window of Rearden\u2019s.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn viewing CCTV footage, Garda Murphy observed the male breaking the window. Garda Murphy gave out a description of the male. A person fitting the description was stopped by garda\u00ed on Grand Parade,\u201d said Sgt Dineen.<\/p>\n
\u201cGarda Murphy went to Grand Parade and identified the male that was stopped as the one who broke the window of the bar.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis man, Cormac Fitzpatrick, was intoxicated and had slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol from him. Garda Murphy cautioned and arrested Mr Fitzpatrick, and he was conveyed to the Bridewell Garda Station, where he was later charged.\u201d<\/p>\n
The defendant has pleaded guilty at Cork District Court to the charges of causing criminal damage to the pub and being drunk and a danger.<\/p>\n
Sgt Dineen said the defendant had one previous conviction for causing criminal damage and 60 for being drunk and a danger.<\/p>\n
Judge Miriam Walsh was told that the accused, Cormac Fitzpatrick, aged 45, of Cork Simon Community, had gathered \u20ac500 compensation to pay for the damage.<\/p>\n
