Madonna <\/a>has written an emotional song on her new album about the death of her brother Christopher Ciccone.<\/p>\n

Ciccone died aged 63 in October 2024 from cancer in Michigan, having been her tour director in the past.<\/p>\n

And speaking to the BBC the singer says the final weeks of his life inspired her to write a heartfelt track for Confessions II.<\/p>\n

The 67-year-old<\/a> said: \u201cI actually came to the studio, and I spoke to my brother, who was in a lot of pain on the phone, and he was not in a good place, and I knew that it was close to the end. Then I went upstairs and wrote a song, so it was all connected to what was happening in my life\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s cathartic. It\u2019s like a kind of therapy, you know, to let go of somebody that you love,\u201d she added. \u201cThe best way to do it is to write about it\u2026it\u2019s like an exorcism.\u201d<\/p>\n

The track in question is called \u201cFragile,\u201d\u00a0 while a second track on the album called \u201cThe Test\u201d she sings with her daughter Lourdes Leon.<\/p>\n

The dance album, an hour-long continuous mix of 16 songs, will be released on July 3.<\/p>\n

At the time of Ciccone\u2019s death, Madonna also posted on social media about him in tribute.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy brother Christopher is gone,\u201d she said on Instagram, per People<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cHe was the closest human to me for so long. Its hard to explain our bond.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also wrote about how discovering dance saved them both, and how her ballet teacher \u201ccreated a safe space for my brother to be Gay.\u201d<\/p>\n

As per a 2024 BBC report<\/a>, the pair fell out for a period around the early 2000s, with Ciccone saying at the time his relationship with Madonna came under strain after she married her ex-husband, film director Guy Ritchie.<\/p>\n

Speaking about reuniting prior to his death, Madonna added: \u201cThe last few years have not been easy<\/a>. We did not speak for some time but when my brother got sick, we found our way back to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI did my best to keep him alive as long as possible,\u201d she told the outlet at the time. \u201cHe was in so much pain towards the end, once again, we held hands, we closed our eyes and we danced, together. I\u2019m glad he\u2019s not suffering anymore, there will never be anyone like him. I know he\u2019s dancing somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
