Kings Of Leon<\/a>\u00a0have kicked\u00a0off the inaugural State Fayre festival with a\u00a0hits-packed headline set \u2013 watch footage below.<\/p>\n

The Tennessee band topped the bill on the opening night of the new festival at Hylands Park in Chelmsford last night (June 26), following sets from\u00a0The Black Crowes<\/a>, Stephen Wilson Jr,\u00a0Kingfishr\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n

State Fayre, which bills itself as the UK\u2019s biggest music and barbecue festival, is taking place across the weekend<\/a>\u00a0and combines a rock, Americana and country-leaning line-up with American-inspired food,\u00a0decor\u00a0and fairground attractions.<\/p>\n

With the festival opening\u00a0during a record-breaking UK heatwave,\u00a0and\u00a0the smell of barbecue drifting across the site as the band took to the Main Stage,\u00a0frontman\u00a0Caleb Followill told the crowd\u00a0\u201cit\u00a0feels like being home\u201d.<\/p>\n

Kings Of Leon opened with \u2018Find Me\u2019 before moving into fan favourites including \u2018The Bucket\u2019, \u2018Fans\u2019, \u2018On Call\u2019, \u2018Use Somebody\u2019, \u2018Waste A Moment\u2019, \u2018Closer\u2019, \u2018Molly\u2019s Chambers\u2019, \u2018Black Thumbnail\u2019 and \u2018Sex On Fire\u2019.<\/p>\n

The festival continues today (June 27) with a headline set from\u00a0Alanis Morissette<\/a>, who replaced\u00a0Neil Young<\/a>\u00a0earlier this year after\u00a0he cancelled his planned UK and European tour dates with The Chrome Hearts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Skunk\u00a0Anansie<\/a>\u00a0are also set to appear today, while\u00a0The Lumineers<\/a>\u00a0will close the festival tomorrow (June 28). Other artists across the weekend include\u00a0Elvis Costello & The Imposters <\/a>with Charlie Sexton\u00a0and\u00a0Counting Crows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kings Of Leon, meanwhile,\u00a0will continue their UK and Ireland dates next week<\/a>, including shows in Belfast, Limerick, Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds. Find any remaining tickets here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The band last released an album with \u2018Can We Please Have Fun<\/a>\u2019 in 2024.\u00a0In a\u00a0three-star review<\/a>, NME\u00a0described the record as \u201ceasily KOL\u2019s most promising, liberated record for over a decade\u201d,\u00a0while adding that it was \u201cstill surprisingly restrained in places\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0around the album\u2019s release<\/a>, the band\u00a0said they\u00a0had rediscovered their sense of excitement while making the record.<\/p>\n
