A batch of smoked salmon sold by a popular Cork-based fishmonger has been recalled due to contamination concerns.<\/p>\n
The alarm was raised over a specific type of smoked salmon from Cork’s legacy K O’Connell Fishmongers due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The recall affects just a single batch, with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland warning consumers not eat Smoked Salmon Slices from pack sizes 100g, 150g and 320g with a batch code of SS16726 and a use by date of July 7.<\/p>\n
Retailers have been asked to remove the implicated batch from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale. There have been no confirmed illnesses<\/a> associated with the consumption of these products.<\/p>\n The FSAI<\/a> warned: “Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications.<\/p>\n “Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly. The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.”<\/p>\n It follows a major mass recall of 35 ready meals earlier this month<\/a> over Listeria fears. If you have eaten any recalled foods and are feeling well, you do not need to do anything. However, if within 70 days of eating them, you become unwell, seek medical advice.<\/p>\n
