Every June, the United States celebrates National Adopt a Cat Month, encouraging people to open their homes up to cats who need it \u2014 and there\u2019s a good number of musicians who would probably vouch for that as loving cat owners themselves.<\/p>\n

Some of the biggest names in pop, country and hip-hop have sassy, cuddly, playful, pointy-eared companions waiting for them at home each day, from Katy Perry to Doja Cat, Adele, Kesha and more. And then there\u2019s Taylor Swift, who\u2019s so obsessed with her felines, she\u2019s incorporated them into her music multiple times \u2014 singing \u201cguess I\u2019ll just stumble on home to my cats\u201d on \u201cGorgeous,\u201d and \u201cKarma is a cat, purring in my lap \u2019cause it loves me\u201d on \u201cKarma.\u201d<\/p>\n
A lot of stars also make their own social media accounts for their pets, allowing followers to nurture fandom not just for them, but for their animals, too. Justin Bieber\u2019s kitties have a following of nearly 300,000 on Instagram, for example, while Ed Sheeran\u2019s cats are close behind in numbers.<\/p>\n
And just like non-famous humans, many musicians have their own favorite breeds of cats. Swift is known for her love of Scottish Folds, while Bieber paid a pretty penny ($35,000!) in 2019 for a pair of spotted Bengals. Other singers are content with more common types of felines, such as Black cats and Tabbies.<\/p>\n
No matter the breed or amount of followers, though, the cats featured on this list are loved through and through by their famous owners. Keep reading to see which musicians are certified cat lovers, from Adele to Sabrina Carpenter and more, below.<\/p>\n
Adele<\/p>\n
In 2018, Adele used National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day as a chance to show off her black cat on X<\/a>. \u201cHad this joker for almost a year now,\u201d she wrote at the time. \u201cHe\u2019s the most beautiful cat, so glad we saved him.\u201d<\/p>\n Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani<\/p>\n One of music\u2019s biggest couples welcomed a new feline into their family when a tiny grey kitty showed up at their house in September 2024. \u201cHe was hardly alive + so sick, but with a lot of love + nurturing, he became a healthy kitten,\u201d Stefani wrote on Instagram<\/a>, sharing a video of Corn Shelton meowing on her porch and cuddling with another cat.<\/p>\n Britney Spears<\/p>\n Spears may be a well-documented fan of dogs and horses, but the pop star also has a soft spot for cats. In 2021, she wrote,<\/a> \u201cI really want a small cat \ud83d\udc08 !!! I\u2019ve never owned a cat \u2026. They seem suspiciously smart to me \ud83d\ude3c !!!! We have one thing in common we both like milk \ud83e\udd5b\ud83e\udd37\ud83c\udffc\u200d\u2640\ufe0f\ud83d\ude02\ud83d\ude1c !!!!\u201d\u2063<\/p>\n The next year, Spears introduced her spotted kitty, Wendy, to fans on Instagram<\/a> in May 2022.<\/p>\n Carole King<\/p>\n The singer-songwriter posed with her tabby cat Telemachus for the cover of her 1971 album, Tapestry. The classic album topped the Billboard 200 for 15 weeks and won a Grammy for album of the year.<\/p>\n Photographer Jim McCrary took the famous shot of King sitting on a window ledge in her Laurel Canyon home, dressed simply in a gray sweater and blue jeans, with a cat sitting beside her. It was McCrary\u2019s idea to include the cat, who was sleeping across the room. As Valerie Nelson recounted in a Los Angeles Times obituary of the famed photographer, \u201cWhen King assured him that her pet was docile, he carried the tabby and its pillow to the window ledge and into the frame. By the third click of his camera, the cat had slipped away but McCrary had what he needed: a picture of both the barefoot songstress and her whiskered feline that became the cover of King\u2019s landmark 1971 Tapestry album.\u201d<\/p>\n Doja Cat<\/p>\n Doja Cat didn\u2019t choose her stage name at random \u2014 she\u2019s always been a fan of cats. The rapper has a coven of kitties <\/a>at home, including an Oriental Shorthair named Ray, a Lykoi named Irving Saint John and a black cat named Alex.<\/p>\n Ed Sheeran<\/p>\n Sheeran has long been a cat lover, and he even made an Instagram account<\/a> for his two fur babies, Calippo & Dorito. He also had a cat named Graham, who passed away <\/a>in 2019.<\/p>\n Ellie Goulding<\/p>\n Ellie Goulding has left quite the digital pawprint, in that she\u2019s posted many photos<\/a> of felines over the years. \u201cI\u2019m obsessed now,\u201d she told Ellen Degeneres<\/a> in 2013, before she even owned a cat of her own. \u201cI never thought I was gonna be one of those people who was gonna post photos of a lot of animals, and now I am. I\u2019m Catwoman.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cLove Me Like You Do\u201d singer has since owned at least three cats \u2014 spotted Bengals named Lennon and Wallace and another kitty named Eve.<\/p>\n Jennifer Lopez<\/p>\n J. Lo introduced fans to her kitty, Hendrix, during holiday season in 2021 \u2014 sharing a video on X<\/a> of the Devon Rex sitting near her Christmas tree and slowly zooming in on his face.<\/p>\n Justin Bieber<\/p>\n Justin and Hailey Bieber are proud cat parents to their $35,000 Savannahs, Tuna and Sushi. The couple even has an Instagram account<\/a> dedicated to the spotted kitties.<\/p>\n Kesha<\/p>\n Kesha is a proud self-proclaimed cat lady \u2014 what else do you call someone with a dual stroller <\/a>for kitty walks outside? Among the pop star\u2019s fur babies are Mr. Peep$ \u2014 who stars in her \u201cLittle Bit of Love\u201d music video<\/a> and is credited as a co-director \u2014 and Mr. Fluffy Pant$.<\/p>\n Katy Perry<\/p>\n Perry is a cat lover through and through \u2014 the members of her fanbase are even called Katy Cats. For many years, the pop star was a pet mom to a feline named Kitty Purry, who died in 2020.<\/p>\n \u201cKitty Purry crawled through my then-boyfriend\u2019s window 15 years ago, fully pregnant and seeking shelter,\u201d she wrote<\/a> on Instagram at the time. \u201cTwo litters and many moons later, this street cat became a lovable mascot to many.\u201d<\/p>\n LISA<\/p>\n LISA of BLACKPINK loves her feline friends, of which she has many. Just look at the Instagram page<\/a> she has dedicated to her five kitties, who often eat and play together. (The K-pop star also has a dog named Love who shares the page with his cat siblings.)<\/p>\n Macklemore<\/p>\n The love Macklemore has for his kitty Cairo is well-documented. In addition to making an Instagram account <\/a>for the Tabby and proudly showing off<\/a> his athletic abilities in 2014, the rapper also filmed a tutorial<\/a> on how to properly hold a cat.<\/p>\n MGK<\/p>\n MGK (formerly Machine Gun Kelly) and Megan Fox expanded their family in 2022 by adding a spotted kitty named Whiskey to the mix. The next year, the couple adopted two more felines: Tickets and Na\u2019avi.<\/p>\n Miley Cyrus<\/p>\n In addition to many dogs \u2014 and one pig \u2014 Cyrus\u2019 large pack of pets includes three kitties named Keke, Lilo and Shanti Om Bb. \u201cHeaven,\u201d she wrote in 2016<\/a> of laying down with a feline on her stomach.<\/p>\n Sabrina Carpenter<\/p>\n Carpenter has shared posts on social media about her cats multiple times over the years, and she grew up with felines at home before she became a pop star (exhibit A: a viral video<\/a> of a young Sab demonstrating her \u201canimal communication\u201d skills).<\/p>\n One of the star\u2019s kitties can be seen in a TikTok vid<\/a>eo<\/a> posted by the \u201cEspresso\u201d singer after a day of Christmas baking.<\/p>\n Taylor Swift<\/p>\n Swift is one of music\u2019s best-known cat lovers, with the pop star owning two Scottish Folds \u2014 Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson \u2014 and a Ragdoll named Benjamin Button.
