Mick Jagger<\/a>\u00a0has\u00a0admitted that\u00a0the idea of a big-screen\u00a0Rolling Stones <\/a>biopic \u201cinterests\u201d him.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0legendary\u00a0frontman\u00a0was asked about the possibility of\u00a0the band\u00a0receiving the biopic treatment in a new interview with\u00a0GQ<\/a>, in the context of\u00a0Sam Mendes\u2019 upcoming four-film Beatles project<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, it interests me,\u201d Jagger replied when asked whether a similar treatment for the Stones would appeal to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to impart it to you,\u00a0but,\u00a0I know how I see it,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere\u2019s\u00a0lots of ways of doing biopics.\u00a0So\u00a0most of the time when you do a biopic, you do one small section of someone\u2019s life bookended by some other stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jagger then pointed to the\u00a0Bob Dylan<\/a>\u00a0biopic\u00a0A Complete Unknown<\/a>, which starred Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a>\u00a0and focused on Dylan\u2019s early years in New York and his controversial move from folk to electric music.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake the Bob Dylan movie,\u201d Jagger said. \u201cYou do the moment when Bob went electric. You\u2019d have to think, what are you going to zero in on? And where\u2019s your two years of interest? I mean that Bob Dylan one was two years, [the] James Brown<\/a>\u00a0one that I produced was slightly more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked which section of The Rolling Stones\u2019 history he would choose, Jagger added: \u201cI don\u2019t know which section, because it\u2019s a long period.\u201d<\/p>\n

The James Brown film Jagger referred to was 2014\u2019s\u00a0Get\u00a0On\u00a0Up<\/a>, which starred Chadwick Boseman<\/a>\u00a0as the Godfather\u00a0Of\u00a0Soul and was directed by Tate Taylor. Jagger produced the film alongside Brian Grazer,\u00a0Taylor\u00a0and Victoria Pearman, while Nick Eversman played Jagger in a small role.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0NME\u2019s four-star review of\u00a0A Complete Unknown<\/a>, Alex Flood wrote:\u00a0\u201cIf\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0a Bob newbie,\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0leave the cinema ready to dive into his back catalogue.\u00a0If\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0already a fan, the next few weeks will be spent making playlists of lesser-known B-sides or reading the lore around a scene you\u00a0weren\u2019t\u00a0familiar with. And\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0why it was\u00a0a good idea\u00a0to make this film \u2013 a mad idea, but a good one.\u201d<\/p>\n

There have been\u00a0rumours\u00a0about\u00a0a Rolling Stones film over the years, and in 2012, Richard Branson\u2019s Virgin\u00a0acquired the rights to Robert Greenfield\u2019s book\u00a0Exile\u00a0On\u00a0Main Street: A Season\u00a0In\u00a0Hell\u00a0With\u00a0The\u00a0Rolling Stones, with plans to turn the story of\u00a0the chaotic\u00a01971 sessions in the South of France into a feature film.<\/p>\n

The project resurfaced in 2016, when\u00a0Downton Abbey\u00a0and\u00a0Daredevil\u00a0director Andy Goddard was attached to direct, with reports at the time saying actors were being sought to play late-\u201920s versions of Jagger and\u00a0Keith Richards<\/a>. The film never came to fruition.<\/p>\n

Harry Styles<\/a>\u00a0was also widely\u00a0rumoured\u00a0to be playing\u00a0Jagger\u00a0at one point,\u00a0and\u00a0Zack Snyder told\u00a0NME\u00a0in 2023\u00a0that Jagger would be his dream biopic subject<\/a>. The director said he had long been fascinated by the challenge of capturing Jagger on screen,\u00a0adding: \u201cHis voice is iconic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jagger has his own long history in film, having starred in Nicolas Roeg\u2019s\u00a0Performance\u00a0in 1970,\u00a0as well as\u00a0Ned Kelly,\u00a0Freejack\u00a0and\u00a0The Burnt Orange Heresy. He also co-created and executive-produced HBO\u2019s 1970s music-industry drama\u00a0Vinyl\u00a0with\u00a0Martin Scorsese<\/a>.<\/p>\n
