Mick Jagger<\/a>\u00a0has named some of his\u00a0favourite\u00a0Rolling Stones<\/a>\u00a0albums and songs \u2013 check out his choices below.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0frontman\u00a0was asked about the band\u2019s catalogue during a new interview with\u00a0Today<\/a>, ahead of the release of\u00a0the band\u2019s\u00a0upcoming album \u2018Foreign Tongues<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Asked if he had a\u00a0favourite\u00a0Stones album, Jagger replied: \u201cI think \u2018Sticky Fingers\u2019 is really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think \u2018Beggars Banquet\u2019 is\u00a0really good. I think \u2018Hackney Diamonds<\/a>\u2019 is\u00a0pretty good, too,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Jagger also appeared to joke about some of the band\u2019s leaner records, saying: \u201cThere\u2019s some Rolling Stones albums that have eight tracks. I mean, you only have eight tracks, and you were like 30 years old? Come on, what were you doing?\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he had one favourite Rolling Stones song, Jagger answered: \u201cI mean, there\u2019s so many different styles,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019re running the gamut of \u2018Sympathy For The Devil\u2019, you know, \u2018Start Me Up\u2019, \u2018Angie\u2019, \u2018Honky Tonk Women\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Released in 1968, \u2018Beggars Banquet\u2019 marked a return to the band\u2019s blues and roots-rock foundations after the psychedelic experimentation of \u2018Their Satanic Majesties Request\u2019, and\u00a0includes \u2018Sympathy\u00a0For\u00a0The\u00a0Devil\u2019 and \u2018Street Fighting Man\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Sticky Fingers\u2019,\u00a0released in 1971, was the band\u2019s first album on their own Rolling Stones Records label and featured \u2018Brown Sugar\u2019, \u2018Wild Horses\u2019, \u2018Can\u2019t You Hear Me Knocking\u2019 and \u2018Dead Flowers\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Hackney Diamonds\u2019,\u00a0meanwhile, was released in 2023 and marked the band\u2019s first album of original material in 18 years. It was also their first studio album since the death of drummer\u00a0Charlie\u00a0Watts<\/a>\u00a0in 2021, although\u00a0Watts appeared posthumously on two tracks.<\/p>\n

The Stones are now preparing to release \u2018Foreign Tongues\u2019,\u00a0their 25th studio album, on July 10 via Polydor\/Universal Music. The 14-track record has been produced by\u00a0Andrew\u00a0Watt<\/a>, who also worked on \u2018Hackney Diamonds\u2019. Pre-order it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It features contributions from\u00a0Paul McCartney<\/a>,\u00a0The Cure<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Robert Smith<\/a>,\u00a0Steve Winwood <\/a>and Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a> drummer Chad Smith, as well as further posthumous appearances from Watts.<\/p>\n

The first preview of the album arrived in April when\u00a0the band shared a bluesy teaser under their old pseudonym The Cockroaches<\/a>. They later released\u00a0the singles\u00a0\u2018Rough And Twisted<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018In\u00a0The\u00a0Stars<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Last week,\u00a0they shared two further singles from the record<\/a>: the soulful \u2018Jealous Lover\u2019 and the rollicking \u2018Divine Intervention\u2019,\u00a0which features Smith on guitar.<\/p>\n

Jagger recently explained how the collaboration with Smith came about<\/a>, saying he unexpectedly saw The Cure frontman in the studio and asked him to contribute.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s this bloke standing there with his back to me with this long gown on,\u201d Jagger recalled. \u201cAnd when he turned around, he was covered in lipstick. And I said \u2013\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0never met him before \u2013 \u2018You\u2019re Robert Smith of The Cure!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cHe said, \u2018Yeah!\u2019 And I said, \u2018Well, while you\u2019re here then, you better go and do something.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The band have also launched an official podcast series<\/a>,\u00a0Speaking In Tongues, to accompany the album. The six-part series is narrated by Norah Jones<\/a>\u00a0and features new interviews with Jagger,\u00a0Keith Richards<\/a>,\u00a0Ronnie Wood<\/a>\u00a0and Watt.<\/p>\n

Jagger has also recently shared his thoughts on modern music<\/a>, praising\u00a0Geese<\/a>\u00a0for being \u201cvery experimental\u201d and\u00a0Rosal\u00eda<\/a>\u00a0for her \u201cconceptual\u201d album \u2018Lux<\/a>\u2019,\u00a0while adding that \u201cloads\u201d of current music\u00a0is\u00a0\u201crubbish\u201d.<\/p>\n
