{"id":524559,"date":"2026-06-29T18:31:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T18:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/524559\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T18:31:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T18:31:11","slug":"man-accused-of-letterkenny-theft-offences-granted-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/524559\/","title":{"rendered":"Man accused of Letterkenny theft offences granted bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Strict bail conditions have been imposed on a man accused of a number of offences in Letterkenny after Garda\u00ed opposed his release from custody.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed Gaouaoui, a 40-year-old with an address at Ashfield, Carnamuggagh Upper, Letterkenny, was brought before Judge Emile Daly at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegaldaily.com\/courts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Letterkenny District Court<\/a> by prison officers having been remanded in custody in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>Gaouaoui was charged with offences from May and June of this year.<\/p>\n<p>An interpreter was present in court to aid Gaouaoui through the proceedings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was charged with a theft, contrary to Common Law, from Mace, Kilmacrennan, on May 19, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The accused has also been charged with the theft of a purse containing \u00a342 sterling on the same date at Aldi car park, Gortlee, Letterkenny.<\/p>\n<p>Gaouaoui was charged with being in possession of \u20ac30 worth of cannabis at his home at Ashfield, Carnamuggagh, Letterkenny, on May 27, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He was also charged with an attempt to commit theft, contrary to Common Law, from Donegal Motor Homes, Loughagin, Ramelton Road, Letterkenny, on June 25, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-sans font-semibold text-xl md:text-[30px] leading-9 text-primary w-full\">\n        You may also be interested in\n    <\/p>\n<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegaldaily.com\/news\/council-launches-health-and-wellbeing-plan-2026-2029-639720\" class=\"block w-2\/5 shrink-0\" aria-label=\"Council launches Health and Wellbeing Plan 2026\u20132029\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>        <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/council-launches-health-and-wellbeing-plan-2026-ndash-2029.jpg\" class=\"max-w-full w-full h-full object-contain relative z-10\" width=\"150\" height=\"84\"  alt=\"Council launches Health and Wellbeing Plan 2026\u20132029\" \/><\/p>\n<p>            <\/a><\/p>\n<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegaldaily.com\/news\/orange-lodges-begin-marching-season-across-in-donegal-639687\" class=\"block w-2\/5 shrink-0\" aria-label=\"Orange lodges begin marching season across in Donegal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>        <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/orange-lodges-begin-marching-season-across-in-donegal.png\" class=\"max-w-full w-full h-full object-contain relative z-10\" width=\"150\" height=\"84\"  alt=\"Orange lodges begin marching season across in Donegal\" \/><\/p>\n<p>            <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The accused was aided by an interpreter in court.<\/p>\n<p>Garda Bernard Greene told the court that there was an objection to bail.
