{"id":524790,"date":"2026-06-29T21:51:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T21:51:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/524790\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T21:51:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T21:51:14","slug":"probe-into-suspected-arson-attack-on-islamic-prayer-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/524790\/","title":{"rendered":"Probe into suspected arson attack on Islamic prayer hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Garda\u00ed are investigating a suspected arson attack on an Islamic prayer hall in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p>The fire broke out at the Al Madinah Hall on Talbot Street in the city centre at around 3.30pm this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>No one was injured and three people were evacuated from the building.<\/p>\n<p>A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>He is detained at a garda station in the Dublin North city area.<\/p>\n<p>Dublin Fire Brigade said four fire engines with 20 personnel were sent to the scene after smoke was reported coming from the building, which has been extensively damaged.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Emergency services at the scene of a fire at a prayer hall on Talbot Street in Dublin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/00249bd4-614.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed have begun a criminal investigation and are following a definite line of inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>They do not believe the attack is linked to racist or far-right elements.<\/p>\n<p>They are gathering CCTV footage, carrying out interviews and appealing to witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Store Street Garda Station.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information or video footage (including dash-cam) is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.<\/p>\n<p>There was significant traffic disruption in the area and public transport was suspended for a time.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was brought under control and the building sealed as a crime scene for forensic examination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed are investigating a suspected arson attack on an Islamic prayer hall in Dublin.
