\n\tEXCLUSIVE:\u00a0Flula Borg<\/a> (Pitch Perfect\u00a0franchise) and Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur<\/a> (CODA) have wrapped on the Los Angeles shoot for\u00a0The American Winner<\/a>, a satirical horror film marking the debut feature of Iranian writer-director Farbod Ardebili<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tHailing from Bad Grey and Plain Text,\u00a0The American Winner\u00a0follows a megalomaniacal tech billionaire (Borg) who manipulates markets from his residence while protecting the bizarre \u201cbeing\u201d he\u2019s accidentally impregnated and must feed to keep his progeny alive. The entire film takes place in the palatial bathroom of the Silicon Valley guru.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film was produced by brothers Dane and Cole Eckerle on behalf of their label Bad Grey alongside Daniel Brandt and Mark Finley of Plain Text, who manage Ardebili and developed the project. Their previous collaborations include SXSW Grand Jury Prize winning\u00a0I Love My Dad\u00a0and\u00a0Mermaid, which was recently released by Utopia after playing SXSW. Their latest film,\u00a0Cotton Fever, premiered at this year\u2019s Tribeca Festival, where it won Best U.S. Narrative Feature and Best Cinematography.<\/p>\n

\n\tJohn Henry Hinkel is also a producer on the film. Exec producers include Tom Spriggs and Atil Singh of Principal Entertainment, Lorena E. Gonzalez, Erin O\u2019Connor and Maurice Black of Story Incubator, Katherine Kendall, Shavvon Lin and Jimmy Cai.<\/p>\n

\n\tOthers in the cast include Ashby Gentry (Netflix\u2019s\u00a0My Life with the Walter Boys), Misha Osherovich (Freaky), Toks Olagundoye (Frasier), Lorena Gonzalez and Shavvon Lin.<\/p>\n

\n\tKnown for roles in the\u00a0Pitch Perfect\u00a0franchise,\u00a0The Suicide Squad\u00a0and more, Borg will next be seen in the upcoming season of Paramount+\u2019s\u00a0Tulsa King. He recently starred opposite Dave Bautista in\u00a0My Spy: The Eternal City\u00a0and held a lead role in the indie\u00a0Bonhoeffer\u00a0from Todd Komarnicki. As a filmmaker, Borg co-wrote, executive produced and starred in the indie\u00a0Buddymoon, which won Slamdance\u2019s Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. He is represented by United Agents, Artists First, Evan Cavic and Star Tyner.<\/p>\n

\n\tKnown for his breakout with Apple\u2019s\u00a0CODA, with which he became the first deaf male actor to win an acting Oscar, Kotsur is coming off turns in Netflix\u2019s crime thriller series\u00a0Black Rabbit\u00a0and Paramount\u2019s horror film\u00a0Primate. He is repped by IAG, Metric Talent & Literary Management, and Ziffren Brittenham.<\/p>\n

\n\tArdebili immigrated to the U.S. from Iran in 2014 with the support of the Sundance Film Intensive Fellowship.
