Emmerdale’s Dingle family prepare themselves for a potential devastating loss next week, when their beloved dog Monty is diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n

After Cain heroically rescues the pooch from another dangerous fire, the family receive the tragic news that Monty is seriously ill \u2013 just like Cain<\/a>. But will their poorly pet help Cain face up to his future?<\/p>\n

“Monty’s prognosis breaks Cain’s heart,” explains our Emmerdale insider. “He looks into the dear dog’s eyes and sees his own pain reflected back. He’d do anything to save Monty, so why can’t he accept his own treatment?”<\/p>\n

It’s another tough week for Cain, as his son Kyle’s rebellious streak pushes him to breaking point. After trying to explain to his son that the Tates are bad news, especially because Joe was responsible for his mum Amy’s death<\/a>, Cain is surprised when Kyle arrives home in a right state\u2026<\/p>\n

Cain’s unaware that his boy paid Joe a visit, so desperate for answers that he needed calming down by Kim Tate and Graham Foster. <\/p>\n

Seeing the turmoil Kyle’s in, Cain guesses where he’s been and heads to Home Farm all guns blazing. He grabs Joe and threatens the Tates, warning them to stay away. As Joe orders Graham to pick a side, the tension at Wishing Well simmers between Cain and Kyle, with disastrous results\u2026<\/p>\n

“Angry Kyle sets a shed on fire, but Monty’s trapped inside,” reveals our mole. “Cain jumps into action, kicking down the door and staggering out with Monty in his arms. He rushes Monty to the vets, leaving Kyle beside himself with guilt.”<\/p>\n

When Paddy tells Cain to prepare the family for the worst, he takes out his anger on Kyle. The news is bleak the next day when Paddy arrives to tell the family that Monty has cancer. <\/p>\n

Heartbroken Cain collects Monty from the vets, taking him for a sombre walk as he considers what to do about the hound’s treatment. The irony is not lost on him as he talks to Monty, desperately wanting to help him.<\/p>\n

“Cain knows he should have his radiotherapy,” notes our spy. “But it’s only the thought of losing Monty, instead of trying to get him treatment, that opens Cain’s eyes. If he can help the family dog in any way possible, then why can’t he give himself the best chance?”<\/p>\n

As Cain ponders Monty’s future, will this be the final push he needs to face up to his own illness and get the treatment his loved ones have been encouraging?<\/p>\n
