James Murray, the Health Secretary, said: \u201cThis is very good news for resident doctors, patients and the NHS as a whole, allowing us to draw a line under the disruption of previous months and focus on getting on with the job of rebuilding our health service.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause of this deal, resident doctors will benefit from a new pay structure, better career progression opportunities and a range of other improved conditions to support them as they rotate and train. Patients will be relieved that the NHS is entering a period of greater stability.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut this is the beginning, not the end of the journey. I know there is much more to do, and I am determined to keep working constructively with resident doctors, all NHS staff, and the unions who represent them to improve their working lives and together build a health service that is fit for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

The decision by resident doctors to accept the Government\u2019s offer on pay, working conditions and career progression marks a significant moment for the NHS. This is genuinely great news for patients, for staff and for the wider health service.<\/p>\n
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the BMA\u2019s resident doctors\u2019 committee for their constructive engagement in this process. Most importantly, this allows us to move forward together.<\/p>\n
For too long, this dispute has cast a shadow over the NHS. Patients have faced disruption and uncertainty. Staff have experienced frustration and strained professional relationships. Too much energy has been spent on disagreement when it could have been focused on delivering outstanding care for patients.<\/p>\n
Today, we turn the page and begin a new chapter of meaningful improvements for resident doctors.<\/p>\n
Alongside substantial pay increases in recent years, this deal provides improved working conditions, enhanced career progression and a clear commitment to support the next generation of medical professionals.<\/p>\n
