The Rebel County’s go-to lads for savoury pastries – The Pie Guys – are launching another East Cork<\/a> location in their second new opening of 2026.<\/p>\n

Business owners Jamie Kelly and Tim O’Kennedy have confirmed their new spot in Youghal<\/a> will open “very soon” after getting off to a flying start with their first-ever restaurant in Bandon<\/a> back in February. The duo is already seeing hundreds of customers each week at their English Market location – and admitted that the Bandon launch went so well they were “overwhelmed by demand” at first. But now, they’re fully back on track and look forward to starting off in Youghal in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The new location in Youghal will be a little different from the Bandon expansion. Instead of a new restaurant, East Cork will instead see The Pie Guys’ truck fixed up outside Matson’s Wine Store at O’Brien’s place for a “semi-permanent residency.” But rest assured, they’ll still be selling a variety of the signature pies that are already a smash hit in their other locations. Jamie and Tim said they are “very excited” about the launch and promised more details on the opening hours and exact start date soon.<\/p>\n

The Pie Guys first opened at the Black Market in November 2022, and have blown up in popularity ever since. They first made waves with their two standout flavours Beef and Beamish and Chicken Tarragon<\/a>, which proved hugely popular in Cork city. The owners opened a stall in the English Market in July 2023, which has been a go-to spot for locals and tourists<\/a> since day one.<\/p>\n

The new Youghal location is great news for the lovely seaside town, coming after the sad update that one of East Cork’s oldest bars, JD’s, will close at the end of this month.<\/a> The pub had been put on the market twice in recent years,<\/a> as the family who owned it sought new custodians to keep it going as a friendly place for regulars and visitors alike. Owners Colin and Marion Doyle had hoped the property’s new buyers would pick up the torch.
