Mayo University Hospital has welcomed the publication of a report of an inspection by the Health Information Quality Authority.<\/p>\n
The hospital was found to be partially compliant in six standards, with HIQA inspectors saying reduced overall compliance was observed compared to the previous inspection.<\/p>\n
HIQA\u2019s inspection assessed 11 out of 45 \u201cNational Standards for Safer Better Healthcare\u201d.<\/p>\n
The hospital was found as being fully compliant in one standard, substantially compliant in four standards and partially compliant in six standards.<\/p>\n
MUH was not found to be non-compliant in any standards.<\/p>\n
HIQA said inspectors identified some gaps in the compliance with standards relating to workforce planning; identifying, managing and responding to patient-safety incidents; and protecting service users from the risk of harm associated with the design and delivery of healthcare services.<\/p>\n
It also said the emergency department was overcrowded relative to its size and intended capacity and many of the clinical areas inspected appeared in need of refurbishment.<\/p>\n
Inspectors found reduced overall compliance with the national standards in Mayo University Hospital compared with the previous inspection.<\/p>\n
The unannounced inspection was carried out on the 17 and 18 of June of last year.<\/p>\n
Welcoming the report\u2019s publication Catherine Donohoe, Hospital Manager at MUH, said; \u201cWe are continually working to improve the quality, safety and reliability of healthcare services delivered in MUH.\u201d<\/p>\n
