IDA chairperson said results indicate their strategy is working despite an \u2018increasingly turbulent world\u2019.<\/p>\n
Qualcomm, Apple and Monzo are among the 190 global businesses that made Irish investments in the first half of this year. Collectively, these deals are expected to create nearly 10,500 jobs, according to data from IDA Ireland.<\/p>\n
Agency chairperson Feargal O\u2019Rourke said that this quarter\u2019s \u201cvery positive results\u201d and last year\u2019s \u201crecord performance\u201d indicate that their five-year strategy \u2018Adapt intelligently<\/a>\u2019 is \u201cfit for purpose\u201d in an \u201cincreasingly turbulent world\u201d.<\/p>\n The agency, which facilitates foreign investments in Ireland, reports that investment activity over H1 pointed to a \u201cstrong concentration\u201d of next-generation technology projects.<\/p>\n During that time, companies including Trading212<\/a> and Block<\/a> selected Ireland as their European launchpad and a base for a regional headquarters.<\/p>\n Among the 190 investors, 54 are first timers, while nearly 40 companies expanded their existing operations, IDA said.<\/p>\n Several hundreds of millions were invested regionally so far this year, including Novo Nordisk\u2019s \u20ac432m investment<\/a> to expand its manufacturing capacity in Athlone and Qualcomm\u2019s \u20ac125m investment to further develop its Cork site<\/a>. 52pc of the total investments made by IDA client companies consist of regional projects.<\/p>\n AI makes an unsurprising appearance in the report, with major investments from Anthropic, which announced 200 jobs as part of its Dublin expansion<\/a>, and Rippling<\/a>, which opened a new Dublin office to create 150 jobs to meet demand for AI-native workforce intelligence across EMEA.<\/p>\n Marketing automation company Klaviyo<\/a> announced in April that it was building out its engineering team in Dublin, months after announcing 100 jobs. US software company MongoDB also announced 200 jobs<\/a> in the same month in a multimillion-dollar push towards agentic AI applications.<\/p>\n Fintech was particularly active in the first half of this year with investments from Currenxie, Monzo, CoinJar and Quashio. IDA Ireland said that the activity indicated the region\u2019s \u201cclear strength\u201d in fintech and digital finance.<\/p>\n Canadian enterprise data management company OpenText committed \u20ac105m into its Cork and Galway sites<\/a> to create 400 new jobs, marking the single largest investment into Ireland by a technology company headquartered in Canada.<\/p>\n Investment activity during H1 2026 is fast catching up with overall numbers for 2025, when IDA supported 323 investments into Ireland with commitments for more than 15,000 jobs<\/a>. There was a net increase of 4,726 jobs among IDA\u2019s company clientele.<\/p>\n \u201cIDA Ireland\u2019s 2025 results and the investment pipeline secured in the first half of 2026 demonstrate the continued strength of Ireland\u2019s FDI proposition and the confidence global companies have in Ireland as a location to establish, scale and transform,\u201d said IDA CEO Michael Lohan.<\/p>\n \u201cThe breadth of investment across technology, life sciences, engineering and financial services sectors, alongside strong regional performance and significant transformational undertakings, reflects the depth of Ireland\u2019s talent, capability and enterprise ecosystem.<\/p>\n \u201cOur focus remains on competing strongly for the next generation of investment and ensuring FDI continues to deliver impact across all regions for the Irish economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
