Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper have reunited for a new Doctor Who audio adventure. The pair, who played the Ninth Doctor and companion Rose Tyler, respectively, will lend their vocal talents to The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Dark Tides from Big Finish.<\/p>\n

Following a series of adventures<\/a> around the Powell Estate, the duo will be heading into deep space once again and team up with the Knights of Atlas.<\/p>\n

“A long-lost ship, the Vesterbold, has returned to normal space,” the synopsis reads. “And the Knights of Atlas seek her treasure. But two strangers have joined their expedition \u2013 the Doctor and Rose, who warn of danger.<\/p>\n

“For the Vesterbold has drifted free of the Dark Tides at the edge of the universe. And she may have brought something back with her. Not even the bravest knights are ready for the evil which lies inside\u2026.”<\/p>\n

Dark Tides will also features Good Omens’ Doon Mackichan as Dr Vivian Rest, Ben Arogundade as leader of the Knights Sir Cal, Sam Stafford as squire Mervyn, and David Shaw-Parker as Holbrook.<\/p>\n

Tim Foley has written the drama, and said: “I’m delighted to be sending the Doctor and Rose into deep space! And it\u2019s the deepest kind of space at that, where impossible things lurk in the dark. But perhaps the light can be scarier than the dark\u2026<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve always wanted to write a brutal, gothic space adventure, so I can\u2019t wait for you to meet the Knights of Atlas, and their curious damsel in distress, played by the brilliant Doon Mackichan.”<\/p>\n

The drama will be released next month, with fans able to pre-order now for \u00a39.99 on download from Big Finish<\/a>, or \u00a311.99 for download and collector’s edition CD, which is limited to only 1,500 copies.<\/p>\n

It comes after BBC confirmed last month that the main Doctor Who TV series will be put out to competitive tender<\/a> and the planned Christmas special cancelled, while showrunner Russell T Davies has exited<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the news recently, former Doctor Peter Capaldi told Digital Spy<\/a>: “Doctor Who has been great to Russell, and it has been great to everybody who’s worked any of it and it will continue to be great. It’s not going anywhere. Maybe it will disappear for a while in time and space, that’s what the Doctor does.”<\/p>\n
