{"id":531000,"date":"2026-07-03T11:28:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T11:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/531000\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T11:28:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T11:28:08","slug":"ireland-head-coach-strongly-hints-that-james-lowe-will-be-back-in-ireland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/531000\/","title":{"rendered":"Ireland head coach strongly hints that James Lowe will be back in Ireland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some light at the end of the tunnel&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Despite having a lot left to give, James Lowe has unfortunately been lost to Irish rugby, after contract negotiations between, himself, Leinster and the IRFU broke down.<\/p>\n<p>The New Zealand-born winger is on his way to Tokyo&#8217;s Suntory Sungoliath to take part in the Japanese Top League, where the colourful character is sure to be a big hit.<\/p>\n<p>His try-scoring record speaks for itself, with 71 tries in 103 games for Leinster and 17 in 45 appearances for Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of Ireland&#8217;s clash with Australia on Saturday, head coach Andy Farrell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the42.ie\/james-lowe-farrell-7088398-Jul2026\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">spoke of the loss of Lowe<\/a>, but also gave an indication that the 33-year-old will return to these shores at some stage.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cWell, I\u2019m disappointed for us. He\u2019s a larger-than-life character and he\u2019s a brilliant player, but we all know sport and the ins and outs and the intricacies of all of that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey become complicated from time to time, and sometimes it works out. Most of the time it works out for us, fortunately, but this time, obviously it didn\u2019t. I know that James is delighted with the contract that he got in the end, and he\u2019s onto a new venture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully, we\u2019ll see him back in Dublin because at this moment in time, chatting to him, he sees his family coming back and settling down in Dublin.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Some light at the end of the tunnel&#8230;.
