Rhasidat Adeleke’s long-awaited return to the 400m circuit ended in disappointment as she finished ninth at the Prefontaine Classic event at Eugene, Oregon.<\/p>\n
The 24 year old clocked a time of 52.26 seconds, leaving her last in the field, as Jamaica’s Dejanea Oakley took the win with an impressive time of 49.64.<\/p>\n
Ireland’s 400m national record holder Adeleke returned after a stop start last 18 months, which included withdrawing from the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo due to “lingering injuries and continuous setbacks”, in a season where she only competed three times over the 400m distance, where she holds a personal best of 49.07.<\/p>\n
The Tallaght native has predominately raced in shorter sprints so far this year, and will be keen to find the raw talent that led to a successful 2024.<\/p>\n
