Ireland’s recent heatwave might be behind us, but it appears we won’t be waiting long before scorching conditions<\/a> make a comeback, with forecasts predicting temperatures<\/a> could reach 30C in the coming days.<\/p>\n Following a dramatic conclusion to June which saw the mercury rise above 30C in certain areas of the country, we’ve had to endure considerably cooler and damper weather<\/a> over the past week.<\/p>\n July has begun in a predominantly unsettled fashion, with thunderstorms, hail and torrential rain battering numerous regions.<\/p>\n Nevertheless, the magnificent summer weather is just around the corner, with a forecaster disclosing that it’s “highly likely at this stage we will see another heatwave developing” next week.<\/p>\n In Ireland, a heatwave is defined as when five or more consecutive Summer Days of 25C are recorded at a Met \u00c9ireann station, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to climate scientist Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel, temperatures are expected to reach 25C towards the end of next week, with the sweltering conditions persisting into next weekend to herald Ireland’s next heatwave.<\/p>\n In a message posted to his followers on Friday, Cathal stated: “By the time we get into Monday (July 6), we have high pressure just to our south with the final bit of mist and drizzle to our north.<\/p>\n “But as we get into Tuesday we lose that as this large area of high pressure to our southwest pushes up [and] by Wednesday it is sitting directly across the country, we have clear blue skies, sunshine and indeed we have temperatures up to the mid 20s.<\/p>\n “If we continue on, even out to Thursday, Friday and into next weekend, and right the way through the weekend and into the following week, right the way out to the middle of the month, it is a case of pleasant, warm sunshine, at times even becoming hot locally, with temperatures up to the high 20s, perhaps even the low 30s.<\/p>\n “We are concerned about central and western Europe once again – France, northern Spain, western Germany and parts of the south of England – where heatwave conditions are likely to develop.<\/p>\n “And while we are on the topic – five days of 25C is what is required for an Irish heatwave, it is highly likely at this stage we will see another heatwave developing as we go through next week and into the following weekend.”<\/p>\n Met \u00c9ireann forecasts predominantly dry conditions across the weekend, though occasional rain and drizzle will affect western and northern areas.<\/p>\n Weather expert gives verdict on heatwave in Ireland as temperatures jump to 25 degrees(Image: Collins)<\/p>\n The national weather service indicates the finest sunny intervals will initially appear in southern and eastern regions, though sunshine levels are expected to improve more widely from early next week onwards.<\/p>\n Met \u00c9ireann National Outlook.<\/p>\n Saturday – July 4<\/p>\n Frequently overcast but mainly dry across most areas today, with the finest sunny spells occurring in southern and eastern parts. Scattered light rain, drizzle and mist will predominantly affect Connacht and Ulster, with only isolated light spots possible elsewhere.<\/p>\n Peak temperatures ranging from 15C in the northwest to 23C in the southeast, accompanied by moderate westerly to south-westerly winds, strengthening along western and north-western coastal areas. Tonight: Predominantly overcast this evening, with only occasional clear intervals in southern and eastern areas.<\/p>\n Sporadic light rainfall, drizzle and mist will impact chiefly northern and western regions, accompanied by some hill fog. Minimum temperatures of 12C to 15C in a light to moderate west to southwest breeze.<\/p>\n Sunday – July 5<\/p>\n Overcast across many areas tomorrow but sunny intervals will emerge in southern and southeastern parts. Sporadic light rainfall, drizzle and mist will linger in northern and western regions but conditions will remain dry elsewhere.<\/p>\n Maximum temperatures ranging from 16 degrees in western and northwestern areas to 24C or 25C in southern and southeastern parts, with light to moderate west to southwest winds.<\/p>\n Another overcast evening across most regions.
