Donegal 2-11 v 1-12 Waterford (AET)<\/p>\n

Donegal’s Ladies footballers have retained their Senior Championship status for 2027.<\/p>\n

They defeated Waterford after a dramatic extra-time period in their Relegation Semi-Final this afternoon.<\/p>\n

James Daly’s side had to come from behind in this fixture, held at at P\u00e1draig Pearses GAA in Roscommon.<\/p>\n

They trailed by 1-6 to 0-2 at the half-time break, and were staring at a potential relegation decider next weekend.<\/p>\n

It would be one of Donegal’s most consistent stars that would begin the comeback effort.<\/p>\n

Suzanne White recorded the first score of the second period, before Eva Gallagher notched a two-pointer to close the gap slightly.<\/p>\n

With just over a quarter of an hour remaining Donegal would be awarded a penalty, and White expertly converted from the spot to properly spark the comeback into life.<\/p>\n

That goal left just two points between the sides and just over ten minutes left in regulation.<\/p>\n

Gallagher scored again to make the gap only one, before White levelled proceedings at 1-7 apiece with another score.<\/p>\n

Cait Gillespie gave Donegal the lead in the dying moments, but Waterford would find a rapid response of their own to send the game to extra time.<\/p>\n
