Pico Lopes’ World Cup dreams may be over, but his Dubliner wife, Leah O’Shaughnessy,<\/a> and their little boy made memories to last a lifetime at the tournament. <\/p>\n

Leah generally avoids the pomp and frill associated with being a WAG to an international football star, working as a secondary school teacher at Tallaght Community School.<\/p>\n

However, the mum-of-one did indulge a little bit during the prestigious competition, as her hubby shared a pitch with Lionel Messi while playing for Cape Verde. <\/p>\n

Leah has since joked that she will likely get ‘some stick’ for travelling in a private jet when she returns home to Dublin. <\/p>\n

‘It was far from a private jet I was raised,’ Leah joked. ‘My holidays will never be the same again; camper vans and private planes.<\/p>\n

‘Sorry, the absolute neck of me on a private jet,’ she laughed, telling the Irish Independent. <\/a>‘My family is going to give me some stick when I go home now over this.’<\/p>\n

‘I’ll never ever live it down,’ she joked. Leah gushed over the ‘kindness of strangers,’ which led to her travelling in style.<\/p>\n

‘That was the kindness of a total stranger. It reminds me of the similarities between the Irish and the Cape Verdean people,’ Leah said. <\/p>\n

The mum-of-one, who works as a Religion, History, and C.S.P.E teacher<\/a>\u00a0in the mixed school, explained how she wound up on a private jet. <\/p>\n

‘This was a random Irish man who wanted to look out for the Irish, and it just reminded me of the Cape Verdean people. We’re two small nations, and they operate just like us. They look after each other.’<\/p>\n

She gushed over her husband, adding: ‘It’s lovely that Cape Verde and Ireland have crossed paths in Pico because there are two very, very similar nations come together in him, and it’s lovely.’<\/p>\n
