{"id":534134,"date":"2026-07-05T11:57:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T11:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/534134\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T11:57:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T11:57:10","slug":"two-motorcyclists-and-a-car-driver-killed-in-separate-crashes-in-cork-kildare-and-donegal-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/534134\/","title":{"rendered":"Two motorcyclists and a car driver killed in separate crashes in Cork, Kildare and Donegal \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Two motorcyclists and a car driver were killed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/road-safety\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/road-safety\">roads<\/a> over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man in his 20s died following an incident involving two cars near Ballymagan, Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\">Donegal<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The crash happened at about 9.10pm at Kinnego Cross on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people were taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Separately, a man in his 30s died in a crash involving a motorbike and a jeep near Ballyhea, Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\">Cork<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The incident happened on the N20 at Castlewrixon on Saturday at about 8pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male driver (80s) of a jeep was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The road is closed pending examination by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\">Garda <\/a>technical specialists  and local diversions are in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Meanwhile, a motorcyclist in his 50s died after a crash in Killick, Kilcock, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kildare\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kildare\/\" target=\"_blank\">Co Kildare<\/a>, on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The male motorcyclist was fatally injured following the single-vehicle incident at about 10.45am and pronounced dead at the scene, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_blank\">garda\u00ed<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">His body was taken to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital where a postmortem will take place. The coroner has been notified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On Sunday morning, a street in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\">Limerick<\/a> city was closed off by garda\u00ed following a serious road traffic collision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed and emergency services responded to an overturned car on Roche\u2019s Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Emergency services remain at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is as yet unclear whether there have been any injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents to come forward. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">More to follow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two motorcyclists and a car driver were killed on the roads over the weekend.
