Met Eireann has issued a Weather Advisory Alert for Dublin.<\/p>\n
The alert is in place from Wednesday, July 7 2026 until Tuesday July 14 2026. Daytime temperatures<\/a> are due to widely exceed 25 degrees Celsius, with values climbing to the high 20s or even low 30s in places from Friday, into the weekend and beyond.<\/p>\n Dublin<\/a> City Council warns people that there are a number of issues to be wary of<\/a> in the upcoming heat. This includes a major sunburn warning as the UV Index will be high.<\/p>\n Met Eireann<\/a> said that a prolonged spell of very warm or hot weather<\/a> will occur this week lasting into next week “with heat wave conditions expected.”<\/p>\n “The UV Index is expected to be high to very high. Warm and humid nights will occur with minima of 15 degrees or higher. Possible tropical nights may occur in places this weekend. There is also the chance of some thunderstorms later this week.”<\/p>\n Potential impacts of the heat alert include water safety issues due to increased use of waterways, lakes and beaches. Sadly 80 people lost their lives to drowning in 2025. So far in 2026, 33 people have died from drowning<\/a>.<\/p>\n Uncomfortable sleeping conditions are also likely. Heat stress and dehydration, especially for the vulnerable and elderly, is a big risk.<\/p>\n Signs of heat exhaustion, according to the HSE<\/a> include:<\/p>\n a headachedizziness and confusionloss of appetite and feeling sickheat rashexcessive sweating and pale, clammy skin – a change in skin colour can be harder to see on brown and black skincramps in the arms, legs and stomachfast breathing or a fast pulsea high temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or abovebeing very thirsty<\/p>\n The symptoms are often the same in adults and children. Animal welfare issues are also a risk.<\/p>\n Be wary of potential wildfires and forest fires. Wildfires, also known as vegetation or gorse fires, can spread rapidly and cause significant damage to land and property.
