NASA\u2019s planet-hunting spacecraft discovered a \u201csuper-Jupiter\u201d with a new method.<\/p>\n

By looking through data from NASA\u2019s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), researchers uncovered<\/a> a planet through microlensing for the first time \u2014 a concept theorized by Einstein that picks up on planets as their gravity warps space-time.<\/p>\n

Though the ESA\u2019s now-retired Gaia telescope first discovered hints of the planet in 2023, TESS\u2019s data revealed a planet that\u2019s 1.6 times Jupiter\u2019s mass and almost 40,000 light-years away from Earth.<\/p>\n
