The Tragically Hip tribute band set to kick off Maple Ridge concert series<\/p>\n

A tribute to The Tragically Hip will be kicking off Music on the Wharf concert series taking place on the historic Port Haney Wharf in Maple Ridge.<\/p>\n
The free, annual event put on by the Maple Ridge Historical Society, which takes place select Mondays in July and August, will feature four local bands or performers at the beautiful outdoor location overlooking the Fraser River.<\/p>\n
Gift Shop will be kicking off the event at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13, with their tribute to The Tragically Hip, that has captivated audiences with their \u201cfaithful recreation\u201d of the iconic Canadian band\u2019s signature guitar tones, vocal harmonies, and high energy live performances.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir attention to detail and ability to pack dance floors have made them a fan favourite for those who cherish The Tragically Hip\u2019s iconic music,\u201d read a description on the band\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
Band members include: Craig Brown on bass guitar; Alan Cragg on lead guitar; Cory Davis on drums; Ian McDonnell on lead vocals; and Craig Rogers on guitar and backing vocals.<\/p>\n
The band noted they are not trying to parody, or duplicate The Tragically Hip, but, instead, channelling and paying homage to the band, revered by Canadians across the country.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 3 at 7:30 p.m., Knudson & Connaughton will be performing.<\/p>\n
The acoustic folk duo made up of Caden Knudson and Aaron Connaughton are known for playing intricate fingerstyle guitar, accompanied by a driving double bass.<\/p>\n
Aug. 10 will welcome the Cat Murphy Band who will be playing at 7 p.m. on the wharf.<\/p>\n
The Vancouver-based band describe themselves as part country, punk, folk, and rock, who enjoy mixing in humour, originality, and, what they call \u201cmusical nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAudiences both young and old, music lovers, and everyone else lucky enough to stumble upon a Cat Murphy Band performance \u2013 prepare for something a little different,\u201d said the band online.<\/p>\n
Finally at 7 p.m. on Aug. 24, the Golden Ears Jazz Band will be closing out the concert series.<\/p>\n
This talented big band has earned the admiration and affection of their fans.<\/p>\n
They are a stylistically unique Jazz Band, composed of around 17 members, who have been singing, performing, and playing in sync as if they\u2019d been together their entire musical careers.<\/p>\n
Music on the Wharf has been taking place since 1997.<\/p>\n
