{"id":537888,"date":"2026-07-07T18:28:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T18:28:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/537888\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T18:28:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T18:28:15","slug":"ireland-end-u20-world-junior-pool-campaign-in-style-with-11-try-rout-of-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/537888\/","title":{"rendered":"Ireland end U20 World Junior pool campaign in style with 11-try rout of USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew Browne\u2019s Irish U-20 side ran in eleven tries to wrap up their pool campaign on a high in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">They proved far too strong for the USA who have never won a game in three seasons at the Junior World Championship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Earlier defeats to England and Argentina mean they will now vie for a position in the 9-12th finishing segment in their remaining two games of the 16-team tournament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ireland had the bonus point in the bag in 29 minutes and ran in three more tries before the interval to lead by 45-3 at the break.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Outhalf Charlie O\u2019Shea ran in a hat-trick during that opening half, with the former Christians player full of invention and strong running.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">So too was centre Se\u00e1n Walsh, who made his Connacht senior debut against Ospreys in the Challenge Cup last December, who ran in a couple of tries as they shredded the USA defence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Scrumhalf Christopher Barrett got Ireland off the mark with a try in a minute and a half while centre Rob Carney took their opening half try haul to seven three minutes from the break after a turnover from Walsh and a break from deep.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Looshead Adam Cooper got Ireland\u2019s eighth try after 48 minutes before his Connacht teammate Walsh completed his hat-trick five minutes later.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/5146790_9_articleinline_95201_2997704.jpg\" alt=\"Ireland's Johnny O'Sullivan and Ben Blaney during a water break.
