Iran warns neighbouring states not to allow US to use their territories<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s foreign ministry has warned other countries in the region not to allow their territories to be used by the US to launch attacks.<\/p>\n
In a statement carried by Iranian media following retaliatory strikes on US military-linked sites in Bahrain and Kuwait, the ministry also accused the US and Israel of violating the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington.<\/p>\n
It said the \u201crepeated\u201d US attacks against Iran, Washington\u2019s decision to reimpose sanctions on Iranian oil exports, American interference in Tehran\u2019s arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz and Israel\u2019s continued strikes on Lebanon have rendered it \u201cineffective\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dutch prime minister Rob Jetten has said it is important to \u200cshow Iran that breaches of the \u201cfragile\u201d \u200bceasefire in the Middle East will not be \u200baccepted.<\/p>\n

UK prime minister Keir Starmer, meanwhile, said it was important for Nato leaders to show \u201cunity and strength\u201d as he arrived at the alliance\u2019s summit.<\/p>\n

Retaliatory strikes targeted 85 sites linked to US military, Iran says <\/p>\n
Iran launched strikes at 85 sites in Bahrain and Kuwait in what it described as an \u201cinitial retaliatory operation\u201d against the US, Iranian state media reports.<\/p>\n
In a statement carried by the state\u2019s IRNA news agency, Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the strikes were in response to the \u201cviolation\u201d of the Iran-US memorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n
The 85 sites targeted in a joint missile and drone operation were linked to \u201cimportant US military installations\u201d in Bahrain\u2019s Salman Port and its Fifth Naval District as well as the Ali Al-Salam Air Base in Kuwait.<\/p>\n

Kuwait condemns Iranian attacks, Bahrain urges citizens to seek shelter<\/p>\n
Kuwait\u2019s foreign affairs ministry has condemned what it says are repeated Iranian attacks on its territory, the latest of which occurred this morning.<\/p>\n
In a statement, it said Kuwait reserves the right to take \u201call necessary measures\u201d to protect its sovereignty and security.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, sirens have been activated in Bahrain, with its interior ministry urging citizens to \u201cremain calm and head to the nearest safe place\u201d.<\/p>\n
