We get all the goodness of the original – with vastly enhanced abilities – including 2 simultaneous Stereo Algorithms – much like the Empress EchoSystem has done for a quite some years now.

The number of core surface Models / Algorithms is still 12, and some of the older ones are concealed within options of those 12 updated ones. There are 4/5 entirely new algos – Drum, Oil Can, MultiTap, and Spectral. And where ’Reverb’ was a lower menu option on the original, it gets its own Algorithm slot here (Actually I stand corrected – the Reverb is classified as New here also!) :

dTAPE | dBUCKET | DIGITAL | DRUM | OIL CAN | MULTITAP | SPECTRAL | REVERSE | ICE | LO FI | FILTER | REVERB

I used to particularly enjoy the ’ICE’ algorithm on the old Model, and while I’m not that keen on the Oil Can, – the Drum, MultiTap, and Spectral are all excellent additions for me! I don’t so much need the separate Reverb though – as I typically have a number of Reverbs on the board already!

The main snag for me – is that I’ve just recently (start of the month) invested in a Chase Bliss Big Time Hybrid Delay – which likely won’t land until next month. That will of course need a proper innings – so I probably won’t get to this Timeline MX until mid Autumn at the earliest.

I really enjoyed the original Timeline which was then knocked off the board by the EchoSystem because of that pedal’s greater prowess – I still think it probably has the mosts algorithms of that type of device with 42+ are your disposal – and I think it was the first delay unit to do the Dual Algorithm thing!

In any case Strymon’s Timeline has now caught up with the EchoSystem in most ways, and deserves its own time in the spotlight – while the EchoSystem will of course remain a long-term / all-time favourite of mine.

I’m also actually waiting for the Mentha Works Monk Echo Choral Delay / Reverb to land – which has been delayed yet another month – that will likely go in on the board at the same time as the Big Time. And so this Timeline MX will need to wait its turn.

Price-wise the new TimeLine is at the exact same pricepoint as the BigSky MX – which means $679 in the USA, £699 in the UK and €799 in the EU!

I will definitely be getting in a Timeline MX – although that will likely be a few months off. And when it arrives its BigSky MX sibling will have already given up its slot to accommodate the Monk Echo. I will have a lot of Delays on the board in that month – and will likely get in a Mooer Meta FX Reverb Edition to make up for the fact that I temporarily won’t have a full-size Reverb Workstation on the board. Actually – I will still likely have the Hotone Verbera in action – and that’s excellent!

As with the Big Sky MX, there’s much to love about the new TimeLine MX – particularly for those of us who loved so many of the algorithms on the old one. I think the EchoSystem had its own take of the ICE delay eventually – that was the one that I missed the most when I originally moved away from the Timeline – which of course I still very much own – once in the reference collection the pedal stays in the collection forevermore!

Here follow the Key Features and Specs that some of you will need to peruse to come to a decisions – I pretty much knew I would get one even before it was launched – based on my experience with the original, and with its recent BigSky MX sibling’s evolution!

You can read up more about the Timeline on the Strymon Website!

DelayDelay WorkstationDigital DelayDigital ReverbDouble TrackingEchoverbGranular DelayLo-Fi DelayOddball DelayReverbReverse DelayStrymonTape Delay+- We pretty much know the score by now…

[6
61,60,80
post-538865","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-technology","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-technology
["GET
