July 7 (Reuters) – SpaceXAI and Cursor plan to launch their first jointly developed AI model as soon as Wednesday, The \u200cInformation reported, citing a memo sent to staff. <\/p>\n
The companies \u200chad pushed back plans to launch the model earlier this week in order \u200bto improve its efficiency, added the report published on Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Advanced AI models are at the center of the AI boom and the new model is expected to process information quickly, making it competitive \u200cin some respects with \u2060Anthropic’s Opus 4.8 and OpenAI’s GPT 5.5, according to the report. <\/p>\n
Cursor declined to comment when contacted by \u2060Reuters, while SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n

Elon Musk’s SpaceX said in June \u200bit \u200bwould buy Anysphere, the startup behind \u200bpopular AI coding agent \u200cCursor, in an all-stock deal worth $60 billion to boost its presence in the lucrative enterprise AI tools market. <\/p>\n
Cursor is a key competitor to Anthropic and OpenAI, but faces growth challenges due to a lack of access to computing power. <\/p>\n
The acquisition is expected to \u200cgive SpaceXAI, formerly known as xAI, \u200ba stronger hold in AI coding, which \u200bis proving to be \u200ban area with high revenue potential. XAI was \u200cacquired by SpaceX in February. <\/p>\n
SpaceX \u200balso joined the \u200bNasdaq-100 on Tuesday, less than a month after its stock market debut on June 12, making it among the fastest inclusions to \u200bthe index thanks \u200cto the Nasdaq’s revised rules for newly listed companies looking \u200bto enter widely tracked benchmarks. <\/p>\n
