England fans have been commenting on England players\u2019 reactions to a private performance from Ed Sheeran<\/a> following their victory over Mexico in the World Cup.<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter performed \u2018Castle On The Hill\u2019 at the team\u2019s training camp, and while the players applauded his performance, fans weren\u2019t so full of praise.<\/p>\n

\u201cEd Sheeran live must be a torture method Tuchel must adopt,\u201d one wrote in the comments section in England\u2019s Extra Time podcast while another added: \u201cImagine having to [endure] Ed Sheeran as part of your recovery. I\u2019d be even more exhausted after that ordeal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another joked: \u201cDid Norway pay for this gig?\u201d while one fan jibed: \u201cApparently Sheeran promised to never sing again if we win the tournament. DO NOT LET US DOWN, LADS\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cEd Sheeran? It\u2019s like you want England to lose?\u201d concluded another.<\/p>\n

Despite the online criticism, Sheeran spoke warmly about performing for the England squad in the podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know what? 2021, Harry [Kane] got me down the camp and then I met everyone, and then I\u2019ve just been to every one once since. It\u2019s been great, it\u2019s been a nice little tradition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the first time I played for the lads in 2021. We bonded and so it\u2019s never a tough crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n

On his prediction for the final of the World Cup, he said: \u201cI think it will be an England-France final and I think when you get to the final anyone can win and I think it\u2019ll be us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before that, England will face Norway in the quarter-finals following their dramatic 3-2 win over Mexico \u2013 which also saw Jordan Henderson injure his wrist in a freak accident while running to join in the singalong<\/a> to \u2018Wonderwall\u2019.<\/p>\n

Liam Gallagher<\/a> has said that he is \u201cready\u201d to play<\/a> the Oasis<\/a> classic live at the final if England get there.<\/p>\n

The 1995 hit has become the unofficial soundtrack for the England team at the World Cup this year, with Harry Kane and co. coming together at the end of their recent matches to sing it with fans in the crowd.<\/p>\n

Noel Gallagher quickly threw his support behind the track becoming England\u2019s 2026 World Cup anthem<\/a>, saying the song \u201cbelongs to the people\u201d. He also admitted that he \u201ccouldn\u2019t believe\u201d that Jude Bellingham really knew the lyrics.<\/a><\/p>\n

Liam also reacted to the news that \u2018Wonderwall\u2019 had seen a 50 per cent spike in streams on Spotify in the UK<\/a> thanks to the World Cup, and has now said that he\u2019s prepared to fly out to New York stadium and sing the song live if England make it to the final.<\/p>\n

Thomas Tuchel\u2019s side are now set to go head-to-head with Norway on Saturday night (July 11), following the latter defeating Brazil 2-1 on Sunday (July 5).<\/p>\n
