The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued an urgent recall of specific batches of Horgans Truffle Gouda and M&S Food Truffle Gouda cheese due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes<\/p>\n

An urgent recall has been issued for batches of a cheese product stocked in both Tesco<\/a> and Marks and Spencer across Ireland due to health concerns.<\/p>\n

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI)<\/a> has recalled batches of Horgans Truffle Gouda and M&S Food Truffle Gouda due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes.<\/p>\n

Recall notices for the affected batches will be posted at the point of sale in impacted Tesco and Marks and Spencer outlets.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the FSAI said: “In healthy people, symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. However, in people who are more vulnerable, the infection can be severe and can lead to serious complications.<\/p>\n

“People who are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections include pregnant women, infants, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is, on average, 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.”, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Horgans is recalling the below batches of Horgans Truffle Gouda and M&S Food Truffle Gouda due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes(Image: FSAI)<\/p>\n

The Horgans Truffle Gouda in Tesco subject to the recall have best-before dates of 2\/10\/2026, 9\/10\/2026 and 24\/10\/2026, while the Marks and Spencer affected batch carries the best-before date 9\/10\/2026.<\/p>\n

The FSAI has instructed retailers to withdraw the above batches from sale and post recall notices at the point-of-sale. In the meantime, shoppers who have bought the impacted cheese products have been urged to avoid consuming the affected batches.<\/p>\n
