According to Women\u2019s Aid Joint Femicide Watch with Women\u2019s Aid Federation Northern Ireland, 82 women have died in violent circumstances across the Island of Ireland since 2020.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Aid<\/a>\u00a0have shared an update on the number of women killed violently in Ireland this year.<\/p>\n

According to the Women\u2019s Aid Femicide Watch<\/a> for the Republic of Ireland, eight women have died in violent circumstances this year. This number overtakes the recorded figures of seven women for the whole of 2025.<\/p>\n

The update comes with the news of the violent death of a woman in her 40s in Killarney, and the charging of a man with the murder of his wife, Adina Constantin, in her home in Laois this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u2018Violence, abuse, and even at its extremes, death, are still a reality for many women living in Ireland\u2019 said the CEO of Women\u2019s Aid,\u00a0Sarah Benson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018After the devastating murder of\u00a0Ashling Murphy<\/a>\u00a0in 2022, Ireland said never again. But Ireland has not lived up to that promise.<\/p>\n

\u2018Since then, 40 women have died violently in Ireland. That is 40 women with lives, dreams, family, friends and communities.\u2019<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Aid Femicide Watch started in 1996; since then, 286 women have died violently in the Republic of Ireland. Of the women killed: 63 per cent were killed in their own home; 55 per cent were killed by a partner or ex (of the resolved cases); and almost nine in ten knew their killer.<\/p>\n

\u2018Every death is an outrage. An absolute tragic loss of life resulting in utter heartache and trauma for those left behind,\u2019 Benson stated.<\/p>\n
