The later date puts it in prime territory for college students on spring break in the lead-up to Easter \u2014 especially women, since the historical drama can serve as counter-programming to \u201cSonic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDirected by Michael Morris (\u201cTo Leslie\u201d), with a script by Dana Stevens, the adaptation of Kristin Hannah\u2019s bestselling novel was previously dated for Feb. 12. The Valentine\u2019s weekend date also coincides with the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Fannings, who were both nominated for Emmys this week, star in \u201cThe Nightingale\u201d as sisters during WWI \u201cwho dare to embark on separate, dangerous paths in the fight for survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France,\u201d according to the official synopsis. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/dakota-fanning\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dakota-fanning\" data-tag=\"dakota-fanning\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dakota Fanning<\/a> was nominated for supporting actress in a limited or anthology series for \u201cAll Her Fault,\u201d while Elle Fanning received an Emmy nomination for lead actress in a comedy series for \u201cMargo\u2019s Got Money Troubles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Nightingale\u201d co-stars include Douglas Hodge, Mark Rylance, Shira Haas, Gwilym Lee, Albrecht Schuch, Vinette Robinson and Edmund Donovan. Producers are Elizabeth Cantillon, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Brittany Kahane Ward, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter. The book\u2019s popularity has barely waned \u2014 11 years after it was first published, it has already sold one million copies so far in 2026. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe film was originally set to be directed by Melanie Laurent, but was put on hold during the pandemic and later revived with Morris directing.
