Keep in mind through that there’s a chance you won’t earn a Meteorite from defeating Mega Rayquaza, so it’s also worth completing the research quest if it’s available. Though it’s also still worth battling Mega Rayquaza in raids as you’ll need it’s Mega Energy for the evolution.<\/p>\n The next Timed Research opportunity that’ll reward you with a Meteorite is the Ozone Ascent event taking place from Saturday 25th July at 10am until Sunday 26th July at 8pm (local time). Both the free Timed Research and Paid Timed Research look as though they’ll reward you with Meteorites.<\/p>\n Image credit: Niantic<\/p>\n Meteorites were first released in Pok\u00e9mon Go during Go Fest 2023. Players who attended one of the in-person events in London, Osaka or New York had the chance to earn Meteorites through the research quests offered as part of those events and by defeating Mega Rayquaza in raids. Meteorites then became available globally during the Go Fest 2024 Global event where players could complete the Sky High<\/a> Special Research quest or, again, try their luck at defeating Mega Rayquaza in a raid.<\/p>\n So now have your Meteorite, what is it used for?<\/p>\n What are Meteorites used for in Pok\u00e9mon Go?<\/p>\n Meteorites, at the time of writing, have one purpose in Pok\u00e9mon Go – teaching Rayquaza Dragon Ascent, a Dragon-type Charged Attack. <\/p>\n Any Rayquaza which knows Dragon Ascent can be Mega Evolved<\/a>, but you will also need 400 Mega Rayquaza Energy. You can earn this energy by defeating Mega Rayquaza<\/a> in raids, special research quests and walking with Rayquaza as your buddy<\/a>.<\/p>\n Image credit: Niantic<\/p>\n How to teach Dragon Ascent in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/p>\n To teach Dragon Ascent in Pok\u00e9mon Go, you first need to find the Rayquaza you wish to Mega Evolve<\/a> in your Pok\u00e9mon Storage. Once there, scroll down to its moveset where you’ll find the option to teach it Dragon Ascent. <\/p>\n Now all you have to do is select ‘Dragon Ascent’ followed by ‘Yes’ to use your Meteorite to teach it this Dragon-type Charged Attack. With this done, you’ll now be able to Mega Evolve this Rayqauaza – if you have 400 Mega Rayquaza Energy of course.<\/p>\n You need both a Meteorite and 400 Mega Rayquaza Energy to Mega Evolve Rayquaza. | Image credit: Niantic\/Eurogamer<\/p>\n It’s important to remember that Meteorites are one-use-only items. This means that once you’ve used it to teach a Rayquaza Dragon Ascent that Meteorite will be gone forever. So, if you want to Mega Evolve a different Rayquaza you will need a different Meteorite.<\/p>\n Go Fest 2026: Global<\/a> has arrived! There’s two quests – Genetic Mastery<\/a> and A Thunderous Discovery<\/a> – plus you’ll want to know the habitat hour and raid schedule<\/a>. Take the time to add Bouffalant and Tropius<\/a> to your Pok\u00e9dex too. Don’t forget about the Mega Mewtwo Y<\/a> and Mega Mewtwo X counters<\/a> as well.
Mega Rayquaza bonuses in Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/p>\n Like all Mega Evolutions<\/a>, having Mega Rayquaza<\/a> active will bring you a number of bonuses in Pok\u00e9mon Go. <\/p>\n The first is a boost to the damage Dragon, Flying and Psychic-type Pok\u00e9mon can deal in raids and Gyms battles. You will also receive additional XP, Candy and an increased chance of earning Candy XL when catching Dragon, Flying and Psychic-types. <\/p>\n Finally, a Rayquaza’s Mega Level will increase the more you Mega Evolve it and, alongside this, the bonuses it offers will improve.
