The prominent seafront building has remained derelict ever since.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The proposal would see the former restaurant, bar and bed and breakfast converted into a dedicated cancer care provision centre, offering physical and occupational therapies, a therapy gym, counselling suites and other support spaces for people affected by cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The plans also include the creation of a community resource, training and support hub containing 12 flexible community rooms and associated support facilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">As part of the development, the applicant is seeking permission for alterations to the building\u2019s elevations, changes to the site layout and the provision of a private car park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The application also proposes raising the existing car park boundary wall to 1.8 metres to provide greater privacy for people attending the centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Cork County Council is due to make a decision on the application by August 12.
