The Cure<\/a> have revealed that Eden Gallup, the son of their usual bassist Simon Gallup, will be filling in for him on tour, as he is \u201cnot well enough to play\u201d.<\/p>\n The iconic band is currently soaring through a jam-packed summer of live performances, which has so far included festival sets at Primavera Sound<\/a>, Isle of Wight Festival, Roskilde Festival, and plenty more.<\/p>\n Currently, the \u2018Pictures of You\u2019 musicians are in the midst of a three-show stint at Parkb\u00fchne Wuhlheide in Berlin. However, during their first appearance on July 10th, Simon Gallup was absent from the line-up, with his son Eden taking his place.<\/p>\n After dedicating \u2018Lullaby\u2019, the first song of their huge sprawling set<\/a> to Simon, The Cure followed up with an Instagram post explaining his absence.<\/p>\n \u201cShortly before the first of our three Berlin Wuhlheide concerts yesterday, Simon was taken ill,\u201d Robert Smith wrote.<\/p>\n The statement added, \u201cHis son Eden shifted sideways to save the show. Unfortunately, Simon is still not well enough to play, so Eden will be filling the bass breach again tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n Smith concluded, \u201cWe hope you will join us in wishing Simon the speediest of recoveries \u2013 And Eden thanks! \u2013 Onwards.\u201d<\/p>\n Smith has been busy of his own accord this year, having recently featured on the new Rolling Stones album, Foreign Tongues<\/a>. The icon features on the track Divine Intervention\u2019 on guitar, which arrived as a\u00a0double-A side\u00a0alongside \u2018Jealous Lover\u2019.<\/p>\n Fans were treated to another collaboration this summer, as Smith provided his vocals on the new Olivia Rodrigo track, \u2018What\u2019s Wrong With Me\u2019, hailed from her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so In Love. <\/a><\/p>\n The song enjoyed its world debut at Primavera Sound in Barcelona; when Rodrigo welcomed the frontman to the stage, she shared with the crowd, \u201cIt\u2019s really special to me for so many reasons\u2026 primarily because it\u2019s my first collaboration. I can\u2019t believe this song exists and with the person that it exists with.\u201d<\/p>\n
