Tom Felton<\/a> has doubled down on his enduring support for Harry Potter<\/a> as he stepped out at a theatre event on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The actor, 38, best known for playing Harry’s nemesis Draco Malfoy in the movies from 2001 until 2011, was pictured in New York City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He attended the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ticket lottery event at the Lyric Theatre.<\/p>\n

Wearing monochrome trousers with a black t-shirt and unbuttoned shirt, Tom appeared to be in good spirits as he was surrounded by fans.<\/p>\n

Looking animated in the snaps, Tom held a megaphone as he spoke to those who had gathered for tickets to the show.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year it was revealed how Tom would reprise his movie role for the Broadway show.<\/p>\n

Tom attended the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ticket lottery event at the Lyric Theatre as he was greeted by diehard fans outside<\/p>\n

The announcement was met by backlash by fans who had criticised Tom for his involvement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the time of the announcement,\u00a0Tom showed his support for for the franchise’s author, J.K. Rowling<\/a>, insisting he is ‘grateful’ for what she has done for him.<\/p>\n

It is in stark contrast to his co-stars\u00a0Daniel Radcliffe<\/a>, Emma Watson<\/a> and Rupert Grint<\/a>.\u00a0Relations between the multi-millionaire author and the actors – who have enjoyed fame and fortune\u00a0thanks to the Harry Potter films<\/a> – have been frosty for years because of Rowling’s views on trans rights.<\/p>\n

Asked if the controversy around the writer’s views on trans rights affect his work, Tom said: ‘No, I can’t say it does. I’m not really that attuned.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘The only thing I always remind myself is that I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Here I am in New York. And I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter, and she’s responsible for that. So I’m incredibly grateful.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

The praise reinforced his comments in 2021 ‘celebrating’ Rowling’s books and their influence on people across the world.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, this week J.K. issued an unprecedented condemnation of Emma Watson<\/a> by accusing her of being ‘ignorant of how ignorant she is’.<\/p>\n

This week, J.K. issued an unprecedented condemnation of Emma Watson by accusing her of being ‘ignorant of how ignorant she is’ (pictured in 2011)<\/p>\n

Rowling said the actress’s public criticism of her gender critical stance had ‘poured more petrol on the flames’ of the abuse she had suffered<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She also dismissed Emma’s recent claim that she ‘still treasures’ her by accusing the 35-year-old of ‘cosying up’ to a movement that ‘regularly calls for a friend’s assassination’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a statement on Monday, J.K. said Emma and her co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint had ‘every right to embrace gender identity ideology’ but attacked them for using their links to Harry Potter to serve as ‘de facto spokespeople’ for the ‘world I created’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She then focused her fire on Emma by suggesting her views on trans rights were due to her lack of experience of ‘real life’.<\/p>\n

The actress recently blamed her driving ban on being a movie star from a young age, saying it had left her ‘unable to do some pretty basic life things’.<\/p>\n

J.K. raged: ‘I wasn’t a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous.<\/p>\n

‘I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women’s rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.’<\/p>\n

She went on to claim that Emma’s recent claim that she still ‘treasures’ her was a cynical attempt to shift her stance after realising ‘full-throated condemnation of me is not as fashionable as it once was’.<\/p>\n
