{"id":547937,"date":"2026-07-13T19:29:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T19:29:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/547937\/"},"modified":"2026-07-13T19:29:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T19:29:11","slug":"johan-manzambi-transfer-news-aston-villa-looking-to-complete-a-deal-for-switzerland-midfielder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/547937\/","title":{"rendered":"Johan Manzambi transfer news: Aston Villa looking to complete a deal for Switzerland midfielder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">This is a painful case of deja vu for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/newcastle-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It was just a few weeks ago that the club lost out on another top target, Victor Munoz, who opted to join <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Talent identification is clearly not the issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/newcastle-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a> have targeted Manzambi, Munoz, Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko and James Trafford in the last 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But losing out to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/aston-villa\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aston Villa<\/a> for a top target would be another real setback in the transfer market for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/newcastle-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">If <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/newcastle-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a> miss out, the big question is can the club discreetly pivot to another promising target, as they did with Bazoumana Toure after Munoz went elsewhere?<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">On one hand, there is plenty of time left in the window to do just that and strengthen other areas of the side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">On the other, there is a lot of work to do and little margin for any further knockbacks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The sight of those players not involved at the World Cup returning for pre-season training on Monday was a timely reminder of that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"This is a painful case of deja vu for Newcastle.
