{"id":548145,"date":"2026-07-13T22:00:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T22:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/548145\/"},"modified":"2026-07-13T22:00:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T22:00:14","slug":"firefighters-battle-gorse-fire-near-crosshaven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/548145\/","title":{"rendered":"Firefighters battle gorse fire near Crosshaven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fire fighters are battling a significant gorse fire in near Crosshaven in county <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/news\/cork-news\/\">Cork<\/a> which is causing concern for local residents in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Crews from Cork City Fire Brigade as well as units from the Cork County fire services in Carrigaline, Crosshaven and Bandon are fighting the fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Doyle Shipping Group has also deployed its firefighting escort tug, the DSG Alex, to fight the fire from the water. Its crew is using the vessel\u2019s high-powered hoses to spray the cliff face from the water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Local Fianna F\u00e1il councillor Audrey Buckley said: \u201cIt\u2019s an ongoing situation at the moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;The fire is at the end of a cul-de-sac, just below Fort Camden as you go over the bridge. Picture: Rory Conlon <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">She said there are currently two fire brigades at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Hopefully they are getting the situation under control.
